Logan Ryan signs with Titans

Sorry to see him leave the Pats, but very happy for him, by all accounts an excellent teammate, hard worker, and very professional person.

This is a good story in one way for us Pats fans. We've seen the team expend so much draft capital over the years on the cornerback position with disappointing results. i suspect I was not alone when they drafted him when I thought we'd more likely be seeing another Wheatley, Wilhite, or (Darius) Butler. Instead, they got solid if not spectacular results. This portends well going forward, I think. History indicates to me that the Pats will always be in the market for young corners. Considering what we saw with Ryan and Malcom Butler gives me confidence that they may have honed in a lot better now on who to acquire and how to coach the position. If this is an indication of the rise of a certain young coach with great bloodlines, then that would be quite a nice story for the Pats. Now get to work on Rowe and Cyrus Jones!

Ouch. That wasn't directed at me and I still felt it.
Yep. We have a once again a nice little thread here where a great player for us Logan Ryan got rewarded for his great play with a contract from another team that the Pats were not going to be able to match. Ryan was a great player for the Pats and its great to see all the positive comments.

One of the board trolls decided to be his usual troll self in here. The troll behavior of some is getting extremely old . They are here to be negative and crap all over everything. They are also huge cowards. Miserable people projecting their miserable existence here to try to ruin it for others.

When new posters start defending the trolls we need to make it clear that this isnt going to be tolerated. The board has recently banned a few guys who were doing this and more is going to come.

You can be sure that the inmates are not going to run the asylum here.

Never a big fan of Ryan as a player but he always seemed like a good teammate and person. Had some solid stretches in 2015 and the latter half of 2016. Best of luck to him,

Isn't his deal less money than we pay Gilmore the next couple seasons? Why didn't we keep Ryan and spend some cash on Butlers long term contract?

Gilmore- $13m AAV

Ryan- $10m AAV

Gilmore has the ability to be an elite shutdown CB

Ryan ceiling is a good #2 CB with great Safety play behind him.

Between now and August they'll sign and draft 5-10 more DBs .

It's when they start cutting deals with couch potatoes in November is when I get nervous

Funny AND accurate. In draftees and UDFA pickups alone, BB probably averages >5 new DBs a year.

Ryan had that ability to bait QB's into INT's as well. Will miss him as a tackler and a solid CB but would much rather spend 10 mill elsewhere.

Logan Ryan seemed to play better last year than in previous years, but I don't know if that was because of other players, schemes, lousy opposition QBs, or the "4th-year" jump. I think $10M is too much for a player of his ability. Also, I think having the best DB (Butler) be the lowest-paid of the regular DBs would create some problems. Given the depth of CB talent in the draft, I'm confident the Patriots will be able to pick a guy in the 4th round or so who will be able to contribute. But please, Bill not in the second round, OK?

Liked Ryan, but Gilmore at $13m a year is WAY WAY WAY better than Ryan at $10m a year.

Eugene Wilson and Pat Chung say hi

Those were two good picks.
Along with Terrance Wheatley, Darius Butler, Ras-I Dowling, Tavon Wilson, and Jordan Richards. Cyrus Jones may soon waving as well.

Will miss Logan, he was good for us covering their bigs, sucks to see him go, but at the same time happy to see him getting paid and playing for a decent franchise who had potential.

Yep. There have been some significant flops.

Wheatley and Dowling high-risk/high-reward picks who both turned out to be made of glass after all.

Butler was another superb UConn Combine Star who couldn't take coaching as a boundary corner (caveat emptor on Melifonwu this year, BTW). Butler ended up doing okay as slot guy for Indy, though.

Wilson at least contributed SOMEthing to a secondary that was in complete disarray his rookie season, but his coverage was so abysmal he got beat out by Steve Gregory(?!) and relegated to ST (where he was very good, actually). He was a tackling machine in Detroit last season, but I imagine his coverage still sucks.

Richards is a complete head-scratcher. He wasn't very athletic to begin with and hasn't even become a particularly valuable special teamer.

Might be just a tad early to give up on Cy Jones. But he certainly seems to have dug himself into a hole.

Thanx for your time here, best of luck LR.

Why the dislike?

He's been harping on Logan Ryan all year calling him trash.. obviously way too harsh on him, he went and made more than Vontea Davis of the Colts (as I predicted ) and had a good year for us

Maybe Logan hit on his girl or something hehe, because he's way too harsh on him

Yeah definitely. Ryan struggled in 2014 but rebounded nicely. Dude deserves to be paid and I wish him well.

Thank you Logan. Good luck with the tits.
