Lazar: Patriots Lockerroom Teetering on a Mutiny

He was speaking in a pod cast. I listened again and he said “they are teetering on a mutiny in that locker room” then said he didn’t mean to be hyperbolic, and explained exactly why he felt that way. It was clear it was an opinion, it was clear he wasn’t saying players told him that.
He had to walk it back because his employer didn’t like his it sounded.

Whether Lazar was overreacting or not, this is a horrible look on the team to make him walk back the comments. That part of it to me makes it look worse than anything Lazar said.

If they just let his comments stand I would have probably just interpreted them like the same stuff most people who have been wanting Drake to start have been saying (myself included). Mutiny is a strong word and that could have been an overreaction on his part but I would be shocked if players WEREN’T pissed off about Jacoby still being the starter. But the fact that theyre so sensitive about this makes it look 100x worse.

You are assuming the team made him walk back the comments. They might have. Or Lazar saw that people were taking his statements as inside knowledge of a player led mutiny and he wanted to walk it back on his own. We probably never know. But it is unfair to say definitely that is what the Patriots told Lazar to do.

Ok, so we can agree then the story is the team is frustrated with losing and it is Lazar opinion that Mayo could lose the locker room at some point in the future is things don't change? End of story?

So we can say we are where were were at this point last year and at points the year before and what a lot of other teams who have losing records and playing really bad are probably going through right now.

He is reporting facts that players are complaining, and his opinion is that it’s on the verge of mutiny.

He is giving an opinion and backing it up based upon the facts he has witnessed.

No it isn't. It is a guy who reports on and analyzes the team saying that if things continue the way they are for several more weeks that things could potentially get bad. Pretty much what you can say about the Dolphins, the Jets, and about a half dozen other teams in this league right now.

The line between fact and opinion is extremely clear.


There is no such thing as “teetering on” being considered a fact and there is no such thing as “these players said or did” being an opinion.

The confusion is that people draw opinions based upon facts and people (evidently in this thread) don’t seem to understand that.

IDK, if he went on Murray's show just to disavow it, I would think it is the case. It was his weekly segment though. I still think Lazar is a stand up guy and if the media and fans took his words out of context, he would want to set the record straight. It doesn't mean the Pats didn't pressure him. But it isn't out of character for Lazar to do it on his own either.

I am saying what Lazar is saying that is happening in New England is happening in Miami and Jetsland and other locker rooms. The reason for the infighting and frustration may be for different reason, but when teams play like crap for extended periods of time and things look bleak, there is always discourse in the locker room. Tyreek Hill blew up on the sidelines last weekend. Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh are clearly feuding. Different locker rooms, different problems, same BS.
