Lazar: Patriots Lockerroom Teetering on a Mutiny

Beat guys shouldn't offer opinions. It muddies up the water too much.

In fairness, he is more of an analyst. But when you are in the media, you do have to be more responsible to make sure your opinions are not portrayed as inside knowledge.

He's been a vocal "Maye should play now" guy on Twitter. This particular aspect of his rant seems more his own opinion/speculative than based on anything from the team. His attitude is that Maye should play so he's anticipating other players would feel the same, which I'm sure is true in some cases and not as true in others.
Besides JAGoby, who else do you think are the "others"?

Players who don't like scoring points?

People are really getting hung up on semantics here. The core issue is that this is a guy who has access to the locker room and gets very bad vibes from the players due to the handling of Maye. Whether they are truly on the brink of a problem or are a couple of weeks away from a problem is missing the forest for the trees.

It might be his "own opinion/speculative" that is fine, but you use a word like "mutiny" then you should know it will cause problems. Think before you speak.

I am saying what Lazar is saying that is happening in New England is happening in Miami and Jetsland and other locker rooms. The reason for the infighting and frustration may be for different reason, but when teams play like crap for extended periods of time and things look bleak, there is always discourse in the locker room. Tyreek Hill blew up on the sidelines last weekend. Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh are clearly feuding. Different locker rooms, different problems, same BS.
No it isn’t. Miami and the Jets are not producing the worst offense in football with the #3 pick sitting on the bench watching.
Does it really matter if other teams have problems? Does that make it better?
You act like players revolution against coaching decisions isn’t a detrimental culture.
Do you think the culture in the locker room here is just fine?
Do you think WRs should give up on plays? Is it healthy for defensive players to trash their teammates?
I’m sure you can find other crappy teams that do the same thing. Is that what you want to aspire to?

In no way did he portray that as inside knowledge in any way other than his observations.
He is in the locker room. He is an inside source himself.

You 100% nailed what the issue is.

He is inside the locker room for like 10-15 minutes a week at most.

If you were Mayo and you knew your players were getting frustrated over Maye not playing and your GM/OC/(and possibly) owner were telling you not to play him, what would you do? Does Mayo even have the authority to decide whether to play Maye?

You are acting like there is a revolution against Mayo.

See @Ross12, this is why Lazar had to walk back his comments. Even after he walks back the mutiny comment, there are people who are still taking it as fact.

Lazar is reporting that from his observations we a tree close to that.

Let’s clear Polk, Douglas, Godchaux and Peppers (plus whoever else Lazar may be referring to) are revolting against what is going on. You don’t walk off the field while a play is going on, gesture in frustration so profusely that it needs to discussed, or trash your teammates if you are in lockstep and on board with the coaching staffs message and approach.

The facts are not in his characterization as teetering on mutiny they are in the actions of the players and the time in the locker room

He walked them back because he likes his job and was told to.

Against my better judgement I'm jumping back on the crazy train. You said this was a stone cold fact. Now you're saying it's his opinion. What changed and why?

What players would want Brissett to play?

No he isn't. He said he is not.

This is why media people need to watch what they say. Once it is said. It cannot be unsaid.

And if the information is walked back, there is a conspiracy that means it is true but they were forced to do so. No evidence of it being true other than gosh darn it you want it be true that the Patriots made him walk it back.

That is not true.

That is true. Media only has limited access to the locker room. Lazar isn't a beat reporter. He isn't in there as much as the beat reporters. They guy is more of an analyst.

I don’t think there is a mutiny, but players have to be pissed the organization is not putting its all into winning.

The players play to: 1) get a bigger payday and 2) win. If you’re a player who needs to have a good year(s) to get a big payday next deal and you can’t excel because of what’s going on around you then you’re gonna be pissed. There’s tens of millions at stake. If you see someone on the bench who you know can help the team and yourself then you’re gonna be pissed.

The organization is looking out for itself long term. They believe sitting Maye now is better to set themselves up for success in the years to come.

The stars simply aren’t aligned for all parties involved.

Bingo. Anyone thinking that what Lazar said isn't close to the truth is wrong. My guess is Maye is doing really, really well in practice and starting to own the defense. Thus they are wondering whey he isn't playing, and thats on both sides of the ball.

Thats really the real thing here. Maye is showing out in practice and gaining the respect of the defense and offense at the same time.

Edit to add, thats because Maye is a freaking STUD and is now showing it.

I bet someone from the Pats had a meeting with Lazar to remind him he's an employee of the Pats and can’t talk about the team like someone from the outside does.

Another thing: guys like Godsmack and others that got paid should shut the fuk up. This is what you signed up for.
