4000 yards is a pipe dream.
It's only his second year. His receiving group and OL are still easily bottom third of the league.
He has potential but has not consistently proven anything yet.
RB's and TE's are OK but not great.
First year in McDaniel's system
It is not a certainty that he will excel
Expect TD's = Interceptions

He and the team are most likely at least year away from showing real growth and ability to put points on the board consistently.
Hoping that not too much is expected of him this year. Josh Allen did not start to shine until year 3.

200 passing yards is almost nothing x 17 games = 3400 pass yards.

4000 is doable.

Only 6 QB's got over 4000 yards last year.

9 in 2023. 9 in 2022. 10 in 2021, which was the last season to see the 5,000+ yd mark, with Brady and Herbert.

If we get 4,000 yards passing this year, I would **** myself.

Of course expectations should be high. I don't want to put specific statistical limits (I don't care about x number of yards or TDs) on it but he needs to show an ability to turn some of last year's excitement into more winning and prove that he is the next franchise guy.

The 2024 31st ranked offense had 2995 passing yards.

Jacobi can't pass his way out of a wet paper bag and he started 5 games. Milton played the last game and he racked up 240 passing yards.

Maye is starting all 2025 games. He has a cannon for an arm. Diggs is a proven deep threat. We should see a lot more of the bomb TD that Boutte caught from Maye end of 2024.

4000 isn't that big of a reach if musical chair QBs can achieve approximately 3000 losing 13 games. If Maye has 3 - 300 yard games the Pats offense is basically 25% in the books to 4000.

4,000 yards a pipe dream?

Take out Chargers debacle he had 9 full games, average yards per game(234.88) spread over 17 games for those 9 equals right at 4,000 yards (3,993).

You think he'll be worse this year than last year?

He already showed he can throw for an average per game the equates to 4,000 yards with a below average OC and worse skill players and line so barring injury or sitting the last game he should be over 4,000 yards and everyone should be expecting that.

Trevor Lawrence y2: 4113 yards, 66.3 completion %, 25 tds, 8 ints

If Trevor Lawrence can do it, its not out of bounds to think Drake Maye can achieve similar numbers...

lets also not forget that OL has upgrades at 4 of the 5 positions, and even the back up OL men were mostly starters last season (or the season prior in Sow)

also, OL play is predicated on a cohesive unit, with either the QB or the OC calling the OL protection each play. Maye and Brown had zero experience last year communicating OL protection. Bradbury would be a significant upgrade here

I'm with you on this.

Everyone here would take Jordan Love, Jayden Daniels or Josh Allen's #'s from last year: 3389, 3568, 3731 respectively.

3500 yards would be "doable". There's going to be games where they ground and pound wins with over 200 yards rushing. They won't need to chuck the ball around like Joe Burrow trying to do it all himself.

The great Patrick Mahomes was sub 4000 yards. The roster does not suit the team passing for 4k.

McD's offense isn't Maye slinging the ball all over the field.
it's a lot of YAC, and Henderson, Diggs and WIlliams could be the top 3 YAC on the team this season

Maye is capable of 4k. No question.
But I agree with you regarding the run game being a big part of this offense.
Pats have better rbs than last year plus newcomers on the ol and a new offense.
We know this ol will be able to runblock- and it gets them working together as a unit and feeling good about themselves when they have repeated success(which they will). That will then make them better in pass pro.
Also takes pressure off Maye to not play hero ball.
Likely we see a lot of passes to rbs as an extension of run game.
And if that's not enough reasons, the D will be much better which leads you to run the ball more on O to minimize mistakes.
Build a solid foundation with run game, high pct pass attack and good D- if that happens the big downfield passing plays will come as the season rolls on.

4,000 yards is no longer a huge feat anymore in the NFL. Sure it is still really hard to get, but six QBs did it last year, ten in 2023, and nine in 2022. So about the top third or so of the league gets 4,000. So it is certainly possible that Maye gets that many yards.

We don't know how much McDaniels has revised his game. Williams seems to have a gear that could make him a down the field threat. Maye certainly has the arm to throw down the field. This could be more of a vertical offense than people expect.

And QBs get credit for the yards produced after the catch. Maye could have several very elusive receivers this year.

you can use PFF to clean yourself up since it is toilet paper

Why would I ever want to have low expectations?

Hoping TreVeyon Henderson brings back some of that yards from scrimmage juju we've been lacking... a few rb option passes should help boost the overall passing game...

If Diggs is actually going to miss the 1st 4 games on PUP.. 4k yards would certainly be impressive with that WR group.
