DRAFT Kayshon Boutte

Here he is smoking the #16 pick Emmanuel Forbes

I like the long receiver stride.... it just comes out that way, I understand the biomechanics. Randy did it too. It looks almost leisurely, because it's the smurfs that look like chop chop chop chop. Still nice to watch.
Shake, shake, shake,
shake, shake, shake
Shake your Boutee, shake your Boutee
Why they still are allowed to call him "Booty" on the clips...

An interesting upside pick.

I will note that he ran a 4.50 forty. 40 time isn’t the he all end, but it has its purposes. He ran track in high school, and his 100meter personal best was 10.97. This random Reddit post (). Translates a 4.5 forty into a 10.95 100 meter.

Last season I had to recite 40 times constantly as people complained about ol slow-azz Jakobi "Best routes since my paper route' Meyers. I didn't really have one but it scanned. Anyway, they were all complaining about why they couldn't see more Kendrick Bourne. Truth is, both of them were "slow" - much slower than that 4.5. Meyers ran a 4.63. Ju Ju is a step up, at 4.54. Believe it or not, if you want speed, we have a track team in house, it's just that we always threw the ball to the guy you could count on to be in the right place and run the right route based on the D... i.e., Meyers. IOW, the two most reliable were slower. The fast guys are Thornton (well known sub-4.3 guy), DeVante Parker (had some ridiculous yardage per catch, is 6'3" with something like 4.45 speed)... I just dont think Mac could get to anything but a first read, b/w his own limitations, the O coaching, and O line play. Agholor was another speedy guy (4.42) that had the downside of not being Jakobi Meyers -- who is an absolute vacuum for balls, whether or not ANYTHING else goes well. He even turned in 700+ yards with Can't Newton under center. He had to go. He was just too attractive a target because he did his flippin job LOL.

So alllllll that to say, for us, the slower guys have actually been better, for years. I do like a guy who runs a 4.5 while pouting, when our departing no. 1 ran 4.63. But if there's anything this post should show, it's that the 40 times are cool if they're combined with all the other things you want... hopefully DeVante shows why we brought him in, Big Booty shows us why he shoulda been a first rounder, Tyquantum turns out to be alive when you open the box this year, and Mac can hit all of them...

Only aw crap 4 1/2 months before we see them in action.

Hard not to love this pick as 6th round flyer. If attitude and/or work ethic are the issue, we're gonna find out real quick. Hopefully he responds well to the change of scenery, and the structure and discipline of a difficult NE system.

LSU is WR U, hard to go wrong taking a WR from there

I’m wondering if 2022 he was still suffering the effects of his ankle injuries he suffered in 2021 ? If we can get the pre-injury Boutte, then it’ll be a steal and he’ll be a good receiver for the Pats.

You can see the difference between when he was healthy in 2020, he looks much more explosive, looks faster than the 4.50 he ran at the combine. Maybe he gets that explosiveness back this year, two years after the injuries. Not that 4.50 is slow, still pretty fast. I also like that he is solid, can break tackles at 6’0” 205. He clearly has talent and skills. I think he slid because of his attitude as well. Hopefully Belichick and Brown can straighten him out.

I am on the boutte hype train now.... Binkie number 1 whom I will be rooting all off-season to make the 53 as wr5.

When nkeal Harry can become such a Dumpster truck , why can't boutte become the next jamarr chase. Impossible things have happened.

Probably about time that Boutte brings in the booty for Mac Jones . I am cautiously optimistic and now give Boutte the second best odds to be the most successful draft pick of this year .

Boutee compared to the 2 WRs that were the first 2 off the board

Boutee
27 games
131 rec
1789 yard
16 TD

Johnston
30 games
115 rec
2190 yards
14 TD

Smith-Nijgba
23 games
119 rec
1700 yards
15 TD

That and a meh QB and Brian Kelly as his HC and Mike Denbrock as the OC.

Had pretty decent SEC title game which was the last game of his college career

He had 32 rec. for 408 yards over his last 6 games last season, so he did start to have some production

The pace of production would be 90 rec 1,150 yards over 17 games

I like the Boutte pick the Pats passed many WR's in the Draft who I Iiked better. That said might the Pats be happy with T Thornton progress so far feeling he'll make the year two Jump? Now that they have Boutte and that other guy.

Broken ankles sometimes.... never come fully back.

I learned that the hard way

Let’s hope he matures a lot over the next 4 months!!!!

Boutte was great in the GA game - let's hope that is a sign of things to come. I think BB said they need to get Boutte in-house and see what is happening with his ankle. Hopefully the "clean break" is all healed. My daughter ran track in college and the number of track foot problems that never resolved themselves (not her but teammates) was alarming. Feet are really hard to fix right.

He mentioned that he "isn't the same guy" as before, which acknowledged something on his part wasn't quite right. I don't even need to know what that was. It's only important that he understands it and is facing it. That's a good thing.

Agreed. But every draft pick seems to say the same thing - they are going to work really hard, so we will see.

I’m still waiting for the draft pick that says they’re just going to coast and don’t have any desire to learn the playbook.

He might not have said it directly, but this guy is pretty much who you’re lookin for…

Well he did get in trouble for being involved in a gang bang with a female member of staff, which led to her being fired. So maybe that public embarrassment made him mature a bit?

I suspect JaMarcus Russell also might have been much more interested in enjoying spending his signing bonus than concentrating on playing QB in the NFL...

I’m thinking Antonio Brown, part deux. Though not as productive (how could he be THAT good) and the melt down (not psychologically but in another way) will be a lot earlier.

From someone who watched a good chunk of Brown film when he was in college, AB was always an outside guy that could play inside. The reason he went so low was the level of competition. Not because of production or perceived lack of effort at a top school.

I’m a regular listener to NFL Radio on Sirius XM. One of the best guys on it is that guy right there. The topic of WTF happened to him for about 15 years doesn’t come up that much but when it does he is honest about how he simply wasn’t ready emotionally for the situation in San Diego. Too much too soon. I think that is part of the dynamic for Boutee. He has to get himself right emotionally with who he is now and not what he was or is “supposed“ to be. I’m pulling for him.
