Kaepernick ..... Tryout Edition

Any person who dislikes this guy for kneeling has the same level of intelligence, awareness, objectivity and credibility as a person who believes the Patriots cheated/cheat.

When it was just the kneeling I didn't necessarily like it but I didn't get too annoyed by it. It's everything since that made me hate him. He is a fraud who doesn't want to play but needs to keep his name out there.

There's a whole lot of fail in that statement.
Why it's a fail is because you seek to disparage the opinions of others ... that's just wrong.

I haven't a clue how a QB would or should be evaluated in that manner.
But I watched the entire thing and nothing about it had me thinking wow.
He dropped back and threw a football ... and none of the passes were hard and crisp.
I would think showing quickness(Sammy) and arm strength would be a good thing.

Meh, even though I personally had no problems with his kneeling, I can see why other people might. It's hard to apply reason to those opinions, it's more of an emotional reaction than anything and depends on ones values.

On the other hand, if you think the Patriots cheated, you are uninformed and incorrect. Reason and analytical assessment plays a big role in that.

As far as the workout at hand, I watched two passes on that live stream, and then it struck me as even more ridiculous at that point. The giant, very nice camera in his face the whole time was particularly weird, not sure how many unsigned players who hold workouts for a team have those included.

Yup this would make sense if the collusion charges were totally false. What team would DARE be the one to bring Kaep and hire him, without any support from other owners and from the league?
====
And yes, I understand that Some (many?) of you believe that Kaep was nowhere near good enough to be a backup in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and wasn't even worth a tryout. Of course, there was no pressure from other owners and from the league NOT to sign Kaep.

For those folks, I do have a contact that wills sell you all some land in Florida. He also specializes in stocking the Brooklyn Bridge.
If you think Kaepernick is a good QB I will gladly negotiate the sale of anything with you.
If he wasn’t a train wreck of a person he would have gotten a backup job. But he is and that overcomes his borderline backup level talent.

Although I've never seen or heard any evidence that the Patriots ever cheated,
people are entitled to believe it. Like believing the Earth is flat, etc.

While systemic, ongoing endless oppression of African-Americans is a fact, people can opine that there are better, more effective ways to protest/direct attention to the problem than kneeling.

...what ways?

And people can consider kneeling to be disrespectful, like those who booed John Carlos and Tommie Smith in Mexico City.

How is poverty and murder of minority groups different from breast cancer? Because breast cancer is not deliberately perpetrated by authority?

Respect is a two-way street.

I don’t “dislike him for kneeling” but I dislike that he chose to use a moment that many fund sacred to interfere with as a way to draw attention to himself when he had much better ways to do so without trashing something many people hold in high regard.

My opinion on him is I applaud him for sticking his neck out for a righteous cause.
I do not like that he hijacked the NFL and our flag publicly to do it.
There's more than 1 thing that took place in his history of this which makes it complicated.

Which is why I am totally opposed to anyone who thinks there
is a socially acceptable group think to it all. IMO he could have used his
money and notoriety to spearhead a campaign on the issue on his own time.

Once our flag is in play - I think we need to respect all the myriad of opinions that will ensue.

So the NFL would not allow any media there.
Kaep was shooting a commercial for Nike at the workout.
He used the standard NFL waiver as an excuse so he could shoot for Nike.
What a crapfest.

The guy may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, and like all of us he's not perfect by a long shot.

The national (right wing) demonization of him, which many are clearly not aware of, is sick and wrong, in so far as what he protested against is totally real, and he simply followed the advice of his teammate on the 49ers who is white and a military serviceman.

A lot of people do just that. A losing battle, to this point. Still worthwhile and admirable.

The NFL ownership has been malevolent all along, [see 1960's: AFL], so it's hard to see them as victims.

Our flag, publicly? Colin's different from the GOP? You're not eating Freedom Fries, are you?

It doesn’t appear he’s interested in playing again. He used this as a publicity stunt.

Look we have rules about talking politics here ... so I was trying to stay away from it.
I respect all opinions regardless of my own ... I'll leave it at that.

Yep ... the NFL must have known Nike would be there and thus banned the media.

I was in the hospital a few days ago for one of my checkups.
A frail, older, black gentlemen in a wheelchair was voicing his displeasure with Kaepernick's antics since he (the man in the wheelchair) was a Navy veteran.

So Colin had 25 NFL teams and 2 coaches show up but he changed the location at the last second to a high school an hour away and sabatoged his own chances of exposure.

This was not a good move by Colin.

It achieved exactly what he wanted.

Depends upon his motives.
