Josh Gordon wants out of Cleveland

Wouldn't that be the Ravens? Are we really supposed to pretend that this mess of a franchise is the same organization that won all those titles back in the day and the Ravens aren't? That's just silly to me.

That's a different discussion. For me personally it's all about the city. I don't care how much money Bob Irsay paid to keep the name Colts, they still played in Baltimore and Indy is an expansion team.

Here's the breakdown of the top ten winners in NFL history based on years participated;

1) Packers - 13 titles in 95 years - 13.68%
2) Browns - 8 titles in 67 years - 11.94%
3) Baltimore - 5 in 52 years - 9.62%
4) Chicago - 9 in 96 years - 9.38%
5) Cowboys - 5 in 56 years - 8.93%
6) NY Giants - 7 in 91 years - 7.69%
7) Steelers - 6 in 83 years - 7.23%
T8) Pats - 4 in 56 years - 7.14%
T8) 49ers - 5 in 70 years - 7.14%
10) Skins - 5 in 84 years - 5.95%

I tend to agree with you... Because otherwise you have fans in Baltimore who would obviously celebrate the Baltimore Colts title wins as their own plus the Baltimore Ravens titles, but then you'd have the Indy fans also counting the Baltimore Colt titles as Indy Colt titles. That seems dumb to me.

But the franchise that won those 8 championships is not the same franchise that is called the Browns now. It's just not. You can't praise the current Browns organization for all their past success. It never happened. If I change my name to Albert Einstein, I can't take credit for the theory of relativity and call myself a genius.

You can't praise the current organization for winning those championships but you can still consider them Cleveland's championships. It's not like you could praise today's Green Bay Packers organization for titles decades ago either, so it's not really too different. Just because there's not organizational continuity doesn't mean they don't belong to that city.

It's just two different ways of looking at it, though.

Sure, but you can't praise this Browns franchise for its historical success. If they never took on the name the "Browns", this wouldn't even be a topic of conversation. If they called themselves the Rockets, you would never pretend to give them credit for the 8 championships. You could, however, say that the city of Cleveland has a rich history of NFL success.

You're right. But it's just easier to say the Browns have lots of titles than to separate the current franchise from the old one every time you talk about it... I think we all agree the current franchise is terrible.

Yeah I think you're right about the frequency. However if he was failing some of his tests, would he be applying for reinstatement? I guess he could be. With what we know about the NFL, I'm more inclined to believe Gordon has been clean for over a year and the league is just delaying and causing problems without reason, because they get off on it I guess.

Sad but true, and their treatment of our QB is a prime example.

How the heck could the NFLPA sign off on anything that could lead to a player being banned from the league for something that has no effect whatsoever on what happens on the field of play?

Meanwhile, Peyton Manning can take a PED that turns his career around and nothing is said, let alone done about it.

I'm pretty sure that Johnny Unitas and many of the other Baltimore Colts felt the same way. I feel so strongly about this that I've never put Indy together with the word Colts. It's my form of protesting the shabby treatment that was given to the fans of Baltimore by the Irsays.

Unfortunately, pro football reference counts the Colts as both Baltimore and Indy, so they get the dunce cap.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said he's set aside some time to get an update on Josh Gordon's reinstatement effort in the "next week or so."

"Yeah I've got 15 minutes on Friday at 5:20PM. I can fit him in."

I can imagine Gordon would just love to join the Revenge Tour effort at this point.

He either has a substance abuse issue or is incomprehensibly stupid.

Welp, that's it for him. Bye bye Josh, you were a fun topic of discussion.

12 pages on something that has zero chance of happening.

I really really underestimated this guy's stupidity

Just mind blowing

why play football, when you can just chillax and get high? he already got few million bucks to burn anyway. and when the dough runs out he can write books about his stupidity, make a rap music about his failed career, and become a motivation speaker. life after football is taken care of. very smart

he might go down as the person who wasted the most talent in nfl history.

years from now people might talk about josh gordon and what could have been based on half a season with a ****ty qb.
