Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

Wait, are people really arguing that this team can still make a SB run?

Those are generally people that can't really be taken seriously. The rest are optimistic for no other reason than to be optimistic while admitting some of the fatal flaws that reside within the 2018 version of this team. I called the former out on what they are - which are front runners - and that's how we got here.

On top of my conspiracy theory from earlier. I wonder when the league ordered him tested? Kinda right after he played the game where we can’t get the pick back?

Please keep us posted about Patterson hes turned into a gamer and a keeper for next season in my opinion.

He's an excellent piece to have. They just need to do more around him in the offseason.

Yup, and apparently if you disagree you're a fairweather fan.

Which is a really weird perspective. Frankly, to anyone who's incapable of separating their belief that a team can win the Super Bowl from supporting that team, I'd suggest that makes them a fairweather fan pretty much by definition. The Patriots sucked when I became a fan, and when the day inevitably comes that they suck again--even if it's as soon as next season--I'll remain a fan. The prospect of the Pats sucking is not any kind of existential threat to my fandom, because being a fan of them has never been contingent on them being good in the first place.

Any practice squad receivers worth poaching?

This team CAN get back to the Super Bowl.

Will they? I’d feel much better about their chances if they aren’t giving up 7 and a half yards per rush the last 3 weeks. The league has a book on them now and BB needs to work his magic.

Definitely, one of the most positive developments of the season IMO. I thought he would be a really bad fit here, to be honest. Going back to his college days, the criticism of him was always that he just didn't seem capable of learning any kind of complicated playbook. Which is pretty much the antithesis of what the Patriots look for in a WR. And based on that I figured the Pats would be using him pretty much as a ST guy and little else.

But to his credit--and to Belichick's--they've found ways to use him and he's risen to the challenge. If they can build on this, he could become a bigger asset still with time.

Celebrating the opening of the Massachusetts weed stores, perhaps?

I think it’s definitely still possible, although we likely need the benefit of that bye week and some additional good fortune (injury to opposing key player, or loss of number one seed).

Hopefully, Brady and Dorsett can put in some extra work and they can incorporate White back into the mix again. Getting Michel going would be huge, as well.

I nominate Braxton Miller from Eagles practice squad.
Working with Obrein he has to know some of the nuances of the offense.
Also he is a 2 or 3 way player like Patterson.
He can be used on end around and screens.
Thats my vote for bringing someone in.

Are you arguing it's impossible?

No, but you don’t see me spending time arguing how I can totally win the lottery if I just buy enough tickets either.

They can get back to the SB, but they’ll need some luck like playing Houston in the divisional round and avoiding Arrowhead. They clearly are not the best team in the AFC.

Pretty sure the comparisons are really just based on that one quote from BB in 09 and people who want to quit on this team just say this is the same thing.
Lol yes because if you don’t think this team is a rolling buzzsaw you want to quit on them.

This isn't a lottery situation. It's not one-in-a-million and it's not based on luck.

They should win their last two games at home (where they are unbeaten) against inferior opponents.

Houston has an excellent chance to lose in Philly, which would result in a 2 seed for the Pats.

They will be favored against whoever comes to Foxboro in the divisional round. Doesn't guaranteed a win, but they will be favored.

Then you're talking one game to go to the Super Bowl. If you can't see any possible way, in a single game, that they could find a way to win with this coach and QB, then I simply disagree.

These are not outrageous ideas. Just because I wouldn't bet the farm on it, doesn't make it a miracle.
