The District Attorney has reduced the charges against Steelers OLBs coach Joey Porter after reviewing surveillance video.

Originally charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, Porter is now only facing the final two, relatively minor, charges. It's unclear if this will be enough to get him back on the sideline for this weekend's Divisional Round game.

Porter was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct before being released from jail when he posted a $25,000 bond. On Thursday, however, the office of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office reduced the charges to only disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

He was initially charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, public drunkenness, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

But now, the Allegheny County D.A. issued a statement saying they viewed footage from multiple angles and determined there wasn't enough evidence to get an assault conviction.

The rank and file might feel differently. One veteran deputy, who asked he not be named for fear of retribution, called Kearney "a guy who comes and goes as he pleased." The deputy added: "He'll tell people to handle something, then disappear on Steeler business."

This is scary, sad, and infuriating all at the same time!

Also, the officer involved apparently has a history of lying.

He was actually fired then finally re-instated after a review board's decision. I believe he pistol whipped someone while drunk and off duty. The city had to foot the (approx) 50k lawsuit settlement.

The Pittsburgh cops and even higher ups are well known for giving Steeler players special treatment here in town. Doesn't sound like it's quite the same in Boston or Providence.

I was quite surprised to even see the initial aggravated assault charge, to be honest.
