Agree he's adequate as a backup but he'd probably want to be somewhere other than NE.Here's my Pats QB take. If you can get a 3rd or better, TRADE Milton. We need a backup so SIGN FA QB Jones as backup.
He had his best year under Josh. IF he can be rehabbed he can be traded, else not re-signed.
Keep drafting QBs in 6th or 7th round.
49ers offered a 3rd and backed out when the Falcons wanted a 2nd. I’ve posted the articles long ago that Bill thought he was competing with Shanahan, but was only competing against himself as Shanahan turned his attention to Sanders. You have no fcking clue what anyone else offered
And there were no reports anywhere that Sanu was this prized asset high enough in demand so that Bill was forced to cough up a 2nd to steal him away. Bill was competing with nobody for Sanu and gave up the 2nd rounder.49ers offered a 3rd and backed out when the Falcons wanted a 2nd. Dimetroff’s big victory before getting fired was winning at poker against BB and stealing a 2nd round pick.
Sanders was BB’s first choice, but they couldn’t trade for him because they couldn’t fit him under the salary cap for some reason. This was an example of when many in the media to asked how the heck are the Pats are so tight to the cap when they hardly had any big contracts on the roster? And there were no reports that Sanu was this high prized asset high enough in demand so that Bill was forced to cough up a 2nd to steal him away. He paid what the Falcons wanted bidding against himself.
Sanders was a different story. Wish the Pats got him.
I said it was a mistake at the time, Bill was trying to make Tom happy and trying to win a Super Bowl. They overpaid the way the Vikings did for Sam Bradford, AB put them in a bind. The 49ers paid a 3rd and 4th for Sanders and a 5th. Still pretty steep.49ers offered a 3rd and backed out when the Falcons wanted a 2nd. Bill the GM ladies and Gentleman.
I said the GM not the coach, you can be great at one part of the job and absolutely suck at another. You should have posted a pic of the 6 Lombardi Trophies to go with your post.
Feel free to list the other GM’s who have won 6 Lombardi’s.

Perhaps now you will all stop whining about how we won that final game?
Thank you Jerod Mayo.
There was another article this morning suggesting teams might want him, but a high pick would be an admission that they screwed up last year by not picking him late.If teams actually believed Joe Milton could be a SUPERSTAR QB1. Then...
- A team would offer us a 2nd round pick
- He would be gone.
Since he is still on the team I am going to take a wild guess and say this is a lie.
Maybe give us your 5th but 2 conditional first if he becomes your franchise QB i.e starts more than 10 games. There was another article this morning suggesting teams might want him, but a high pick would be an admission that they screwed up last year by not picking him late.
The article suggested maybe a 4th or 5th round pick could get him.
What would be the Pats’ motivation to trade him for so little? He has a lot of value to the Pats.
If you think he can be your starting QB then pay the price, don’t expect the Pats to give him to you.
“Joe, you are looking like a real find.Maybe give us your 5th but 2 conditional first if he becomes your franchise QB i.e starts more than 10 games.
It's not limited to just this year . I did not what to add all legal language around that as I am no lawyer. If he becomes your franchise QB or franchise QB of another team in next 3 years through a trade , you give 2 additional first round picks.“Joe, you are looking like a real find.
We have our franchise QB now,
But since we are not likely to go far in the playoffs, we’re going to sit you so we can keep our 1st round picks. We need those to build around you.”

And if the Patriots believed that then Drake Maye would be the guy traded this offseason. That’s not happening. If teams actually believed Joe Milton could be a SUPERSTAR QB1. Then...

If teams want to punt on him and make him their franchise QB we don't want to give it for free. So make it conditional. His value might be 4th for today what about I future. If nobody is taking him with hopes of trying for a franchise QB don't trade him. He can be a cheap backup for us for 3 years . That's infinitely better than a unproven 3rd or 4th round pick. Knowing the value of QB, some team will pony up a 2nd if they become desperate and are enamored by his potential. When sanu can fetch 2 , anything is possible. And if the Patriots believed that then Drake Maye would be the guy traded this offseason. That’s not happening.
Not sure what Milton has done to date to warrant anything more than a 5th round pick in return. I’d love to see a bag for him but let’s be realistic.
The fact that he hasn't moved yet doesn't suggest anything. FA hasn't started and the draft is 6 weeks off.If teams actually believed Joe Milton could be a SUPERSTAR QB1. Then...

Teams are not rational when it comes to QBs.The fact that he hasn't moved yet doesn't suggest anything. FA hasn't started and the draft is 6 weeks off.
He's worth a 2nd rounder based on what else is available and his contract. Or alternatively a 2025 4th + a 2026 3rd that can become a 2nd. Or a 3rd + a good player who's expendable to them.
If somehow they got a 3rd for him that would be an absolute steal. I doubt they get more than a 4th.The fact that he hasn't moved yet doesn't suggest anything. FA hasn't started and the draft is 6 weeks off.
