He’ll be paid handsomely.
The "highest paid player in the NFL" approach seems to always end somewhere between disappointing to disaster.
5 years 137 million
And we only got a 2nd. Jesus Christ
And THAT'S why we couldn't keep him.
As a side note (to the Gorppolians here): Belichick must be feeling MUCH better now for having been forced to trade him, knowing he would have never been able to (or willing for that matter) pay Jimmy that kind of money, and Jimmy would have walked away anyways.
$27.5 million average per year. Holy cow that's a lot of money.
In before the "we would have won with Garoppolo" crowd.
And there were people in this very forum who thought - and I swear I am not making this up - he would be happy to take a new deal with a backup role in New England.....
This is going to end badly
I'm thinking he's made up for his 4 years being mentored by the Patriots/Brady.
Good for him, though I'm not sure even prime Brady is worth that contract, I expect Jimmy to be a very good QB in the NFL.
Even if we had traded Brady and kept Jimmy, we wouldn't pay him this much money.
That is a STUNNING amount. WOW!
He needs to get at least one Super Bowl and one MVP to justify that money.
'AT LEAST' - keyword
If that's what a package bracket looks like for a guy who started 8 games in his career, Brady with his record, should warrant a $1B contract.
More like he should’ve fetched more than a second rounder.
Rodgers and Cousins will probably send Thank You! cards to the 49ers.
Just remember guys: he’s way away from us now. Would rather have gotten a little fleeced in a trade than have him stay in the AFC.
it's probably going to be a hugely front loaded deal since they are over 100M under the cap currently .........
