Absolutely amazing that a team would make a coach go out on the field under these circumstances. The entire story line for the game has now shifted to this, as will the attention he gets from the cameras and media. This is low even for the Jets. And as @luuked points out above, the price for walking is $$$M. Wow.

If a coach has been told he's going to be fired, can another team tell him now that they will be interested in hiring him for next year? Wouldn't it be delicious if the Pats got that word to him before the game?

This is super awkward, but I guess it’s not a huge surprise after Gase fired the obvious interim option. The Jets have two assistant head coaches, one of whom is a career WR coach and one who was a defensive coordinator for two years a decade ago.
