Patriots Select CB Cyrus Jones with the 60th Overall Pick
Matthew Emmons - USA TODAY Sports
The Patriots selected Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones with the #60 overall pick on Friday night, adding some young talent to compliment Malcolm Butler with their first selction in the 2016 draft.
Following the selection, they traded the 61st overall pick to the Saints, with reports saying they received the 78th pick (3rd round) and the 112th pick (4th round).
Jones is an athletic player who ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at the combine along with a 4.21 shuttle and a 6.71 time on his 3-cone drill.
He’s got plenty of athleticism, with scouting reports noting the fact he has terrific change of direction along with good instincts and great closing speed. He’s also a player who goes up and attacks the football, and obviously given the connection with Nick Saban has a solid football pedigree worthy enough for Bill Belichick to have felt pretty confident prior to making the selection.
