What short memories people have here. I've seen Fitzpatrick have moster games against the Pats over the years. He had a fanstastic year last season. He has ALWAYS been inconsistent, but by definition, that only means that in between the bad games there are GOOD ones as well.

On any given Sunday is NOT a cliche, it's a fact! Fitzpatrick gives the Jets their best chance of winning this game. Besides it will be another "superbowl" game for a team that is going nowhere in a disappointing season. A win on Sunday MAKES their year, so we will see another very motivated team on their home field who will be very scary if the Pats allow them to stay in the game into the 2nd half.

So personally, I would have preferred the Petty experiment continue for the rest of the season.

The Jets are virtually eliminated from playoff contention, so what's at stake here? Picksixpatrick is now a bitter old man who is counting his money instead of looking out for his teammates. My guess is that he's plotting his next career move to become an NFL analyst or coach.

Don't think it's possible to underrate what Decker brings to the Jets offense. It has changed big time without him. Now all teams do is gang up on Marshall, beat up on him, and zone everything else.

I expect us to go 311 the majority of the game to pick on their horrendous secondary. Wouldn't be surprised to see plenty of empty formations.

Mangold being hurt has been a problem too.

Why else you think they are doing this? They know the Pats D can be had and they can more easily salvage a win with Fitz than Petty.

By playing Fitz, the Jets are saying "Your D sucks. It's so bad we feel comfortable playing Fitz". Now, the O may outpace even the mighty Jets O, but be prepared for "are you kidding me" completing and TDs.

Such is the frustrating state of the Pats D.

Interesting to see how Blount/White/Lewis do against jests front. If we can be some what successful and keeping their Def honest with our running game, I don't see Fitz keeping up scoring wiseespecially if our Offense is clicking, scoring early. Then gets ugly for them. Would be nice to get some 3 and outs & TOs for a change making life that much easier. Any word on Gronk & Hogan returning?

Maybe the defense will finally be able to snag some turnovers. I wish I could like this news more than I do but Fitz has always given this defense a relatively tough time.

This doesn't worry me as much because Decker has always been a thorn in our side.. without him, they should be able to keep Marshall in check

Yeah, if I'm a Jets fan I'm pretty pissed at this. (Well, if I'm a Jets fan then hit me with a shovel.) But the only benefit to the rest of the season would be to see if you've got a QB on your roster. Fitz is gone next year. Pathetic.

I have a hunch that they intend to play Petty the rest of the year but are just trying to play spoiler of the Pats because of how much mutual hatred there is between the organizations

My bold prediction:
They play Fitz only against the Pats because of his familiarity with them having played in the AFCE for so long.. they will try to get a win to get their pathetic fanbase excited and make them think their joke of a season was worth it celebrating another offseason SB and then they'll go right back to Petty or Hackenslash to develop them further

The Jets have a complex when it comes to the Pats.. Heck I wouldnt be shocked if Goodell was on a red phone to Woody saying "we need someone to slow the Pats down and prevent them from getting HFA in the playoffs so we can screw them over more easily... The problem we'll have is that the Jets are a disgraceful pathetic team that has basically already given up, but the one game that they will get motivated for is the Patriots. This will basically be their super bowl... their fans would be excited with a victory over the Pats and they would get a lot of positive media coverage next week if they managed to pull it off, which that team could desperately use right now

Hell, the Jets probably started game planning for this matchup weeks ago, since it doesn't look like they've been putting any preperation into the other 10 games theyve played.. they have a ton of talented players on their roster, it's shocking how bad they've been this year but if all of that talent decides to get up and motivated for this game, it could be challenging

And Fitzpatrick is leaps and bounds more advanced mentally with his knowledge of the Pats than the other 2 young QBs they have

Fitz will also be motivated to perform and make a case for a job next year on another team..


All that being said, if we lose to the ****ing Jets who have been AWFUL this year... ugh.... I'll probably take a week off from the forum because it's going to be a nightmare on here afterwards

It makes sense from a jealous, petty stand point. I think the Jets despise the Pats so much that they will put aside developing their potential future QBs just for a chance at upsetting the Patriots

If they win, NY media will be treating it like they just won the Lombardi and the national media will go into full attack mode on how ****ty the Pats are, has Brady's age finally caught up to him, has BB lost the locker room, is it time for a change of guard at QB and HC, etc etc etc

That is what the Jets are playing for, and their so sad and pathetic it's probably the only thing this year that will get highly paid guys like Revis to give it their all
