I've Seen Enough of Drake Maye...

He has had moments of panic his preseason. Not grasping at straws just a little more cautious than you are with the potential franchise QB. I want him to start week 5, but the 1st 4 weeks are pretty tough defenses and I think he needs to see those exotic defenses vs this offense.
I didn’t see panic. Can you cite examples? Moving to avoid the rush isn’t panic.
What can he see by not playing that he can’t see on film?
It’s like you are saying he isn’t allowed to watch tape unless it’s a game he sat on the sidelines.

Yes.. however ring 6 tried say otherwise.
No I didn’t. You said he might be back because we are #3 on the waiver list. Why include where we are on he waiver list if you aren’t basing the opinion on our chances of claiming him on waivers???
If that’s not what you meant, you being unclear isn’t my fault.

Ok. Well maybe I got it confused. I was in agreement that the team can sign a waived player. I was trying to express that he's likely cleared waivers.

Will Zappe want to sign onto the patriot Practice Squad, rather than someone else's? His future here is as a #4 QB. On other teams, he can hope for #2 or #3. BTW, I could see someone claiming him off waivers with the new QB rule requiring the emergency QB to be on the 53-man roster.
------------
Given Brissett's injury, we should have waited another day before cutting him. Even if Milton is the #2, we should have an emergency #3.

Your last part of your post is exactly what I'm thinking... if Brissett isn't looking good in practice, errant throws, short hopping like cam was.. then I think the team thinks about short term IR with a Designation to return.

Zap is then signed to the PS and called up to the active roster on game days. He'd be the back to to maye day. What do you think?

I can forsee this panning out all based on Brissett and his injury.. he looked in pain Sunday falling on that shoulder..

How's he looking in practice? Are throws errant? Is he favoring the shoulder?..

I'm sure he knows maye is breathing on his neck.. so he will probably mask some of the pain and discomfort. But practice availability will be interesting here.

I just don’t think the coach should make the wrong decision unless he gets it right by default because of an injury.
Brissett has never won a starting job in the league, only having one because of injury and retirement of Andrew Luck. He has never been a legit starter and he has looked pathetic this year.

If Mayo really is about players competing for jobs and the best player plays, which he says he is, how can he not play Maye, who clearly won the job? Imagine telling your team you are about jobs are earned and the best player plays and then telling them brissett is better than the guy they just drafted #3 and are pinning their future to? Imagine being Maye and being told that guy, with that resume and this performances this year is better than you.

They likely are leaning towards Drake... Brissett injury is probably making that decision easier. I think the thing is.. Mayo's allowing his coaches to express what they think.. but ultimately it's he and Wolf that make that call. To your point.. Mayo can't preach competition and not give the guy who won it the opportunity.

Correct everyone on the 53 has earned thier roster spot by hard work and competition. Brissett is a nice man a true professional.. I just don't think his game wows anyone. He's a back up QB and that's probably what he should be best suited for. As I said if he's hurt, because I really think it's a bit more than he is letting on. Just my opinion

This new era of the HC NEP speaking openly about internal ops is dangerous when that HC isn’t consistent in what he says.
He has said AVP is “the head coach of the offense” so that would imply it’s his decision. But AVP had lamented that he wished Maye could get more work. So which is it? Who is making the decisions?
Wolf says the OL is fine, Mayo says the starters may not be on the roster. Mayo rambles on about taking personal interest in the players and then after a miserable undisciplined game says he doesn’t want to be a players coach.
The coaching staff and front office appear very dysfunctional and seem to be choosing to air it publicly. Not a good combination.

Pay more attention to what they do.. mayo will learn as the season wears on how to relay information to the media.. I'm sure Stacy is working with him. However Mayo's a grown man and can handle himself. Let him learn. He Will learn how to be forthcoming on things and how not to be so much with others.

I wouldn't say they are dysfunctional.. this is a entire brand new staff with some hold overs. Even though Bill never said much I still paid more attention what he did as opposed to what he said. So let's see!

I don’t understand the “he can’t communicate effectively now, but he will learn”. That implies everyone learns and communication is not a skill. Every coach is a grown man, yet they all handle communication at different skill levels.
I think we seem to have a difference of opinion where I think being a successful HC requires a skill set that not a lot of coaches have ) way more fail than succeed) anything it’s routine and just a matter of time.

I see dysfunction, which I described. Do you not think conflicting public communication is dysfunctional?

Oh and regarding you first sentence what they are doing scares me even more than what they are saying.

I tend to care more about what's done on the field. over the years Bill in the little he did say.. had times he said contradictory things... then who was lined up on the field told a different story.

We've seen dysfunction the last few seasons. That was dysfunction. Especially last season. I'm just waiting for the season to start and hoping the team can start Drake and play exciting football. That's where I'm at personally

Well since they have been on the field yet, we can only consider how the operation looks at this point. If you are expecting good things on the field this year, I’d lower those expectations.

I’m not sure when belichick talked about who was going to play and conflicted with his own words, or that he called a coordinator hc of the offense, or that his front office announced we think we have all the pieces a d then he said our starters may not be on the roster, so I think you are making stuff up to feel better about what, so far has been a dumpster fire

Dysfunction how?
Are you telling me having a bad season every 23 years is a sign of dysfunction?
I’m being realistic.
