I can't agree with that. The loss of the foundational building block, in the form of a 1st round pick was outrageous. The fact that the Pats were able to overcome it this year doesn't change that.
The stipulation that the Pats would lose the higher of the picks if they traded for one in the same round, is unprecedented in it's vindictiveness.
That wasn't a punishment that was an assault.
I won't deny the pick was huge. My point is this. We are 14-2 and have HFA and are playing the best football of the year. We have been relatively fortunate health wise, except for Gronk. How much better could things be right now?
Change anything and we could have had a completely different outcome. Could be 16-0, could be 10-6. Maybe that first rounder we draft stops us from getting Bennett or Floyd or keeps someone else from developing.
As much as we were completely screwed, I wouldn't change anything because it has made us stronger and put us in a great position to win another Super Bowl.
