Is it possible Bill can save his job by benching Mac Jones and blaming the season on him?

Why is something that was said 28 years ago being mentioned now?

Is the Anti-BB campaign in full-force?
agreed but at least it was factual. i see way more stuff everywhere that's b.s.

My beef with them really has nothing to do with my previous post. But to answer your question, they are protected by their Dad and teams won't be able to evaluate how good of coaches they are or aren't. Both sons need to grow some balls, go elsewhere and make it on their own.

If Bill is fired, it may be tough for his sons to get jobs in the NFL with his connections of former coaches drying up.

They need to get out from under their father's shadow for them to ever to be taken seriously in the NFL by other teams. Notice that Steve Belichick has not be a hot interview candidate? If he did what he did here with another head coach, he probably would get head coaching interviews and possibly even be a head coach. But here, Belichick has always gotten the credit for the defense and even more so since it is his son calling plays on Sunday.

TLR: No.

Bill is the GM and the Coach.

Bill hired the entire staff
Bill signed all the players
Bill Coached all the players.

there is NOWHERE for bill to hide when it comes to taking blame for the roster, or the players BILL chose to start.

the patriots have been on a downward trend since the end of Mac's rookie year and the only one to blame is Bill.

Bill chose not to bring in an established Vet to backup/Push Mac.
Bill chose to hire patricia as the oline/offensive coordinator
Bill chose to let certain personal walk
Bill chose ot extend parker over signing dhop
Bill hand picked the Offensive line players
Bill reached for a first round guard over signing an established guard.

Everything that has led to the patriots being a contender for the #1 pick next year falls on bills plate.

Mac has turned 100% into a pumpkin after being a rookie of the year runner up in his first season.
How much is what Bill put around mac in terms of players/coaching, and how much of it is Mac was never as good as his rookie season seemed to be. We'll never know.

BB definitely should not have said what he did. No question.

BB shredded Charley Casserole as well. He had it coming.

Just ironic how that story pops up from the ether at a time when BBs coaching career is potentially winding down.....

I'm not anti-BB at all. Was responding to the question whether Bill spoke ill of someone else. He has. It's also the reason why Levy's wife doesn't like BB.

Goes back to what I was saying before about BB not being ready for the job when he was in Cleveland. At least if he said something like that today (and he wouldn't) he has the track record to back it up. He didn't back then so it was just arrogance talking. People and relationships matter in that job.

He doesn't talk ill about his own players though.

Mac was abysmal yesterday. But take Mac off the team and this isn't a good roster just waiting for good QB play to compete. It's ok to admit that.

The OL is a mess, there's no 3rd down back and the receivers save for Douglas are average at best.

Better QB play and we score maybe 13 points? 20 at most? Most of the media and rest of the league had this roster pegged at 6-7 wins at BEST before the season..it just no one expected it to be this bad.

You aren't competing for anything but mediocrity when your OL gives up 44% pressure and your top receivers are parker/Bourne/juju.

Giardi said "stink stank stunk" before the season even started and people saw how bad it was. People just put their heads in the sand

I'll add Bill went with juju on a bum knee over Meyers (a known quantity) to save money too. Before the season started an article came out that said his knee was worse than thought and he's viewed as a #4.

The whole "bill was talked into taking juju over Meyers" was definitely a leak to take the blame off of him

Levy's wife went off lol....

I hear you. I think BB was ready to run and build an org but perhaps was a bit too big for his britches. Getting fired by Vampire Modell was the best thing that happened to him as it taught him humility (at least in public).

It's why I don't really put much stock into his Cleveland record. It is what it is.

He became a much better coach than that as we all know.

Levy's wife did go off actually. lol Wife of ex-Bills coach Marv Levy detests Bill Belichick: ‘Mean person’

Meh, I disagree a little bit. With just competent QB play yesterday, they win by 2 scores, considering how well they were running the ball. But that's just yesterday, you're other points on the roster is spot on.

JJSS has been awful this year. And it isn't because of Mac. And he was not so great after he got injured last year. He was awful in the Super Bowl.

Rham has been awful prior to the last two games.

Henry is good, not great.

Geisicki is on track to have a better year than he had last year which isn't great.

Trent Brown has missed three games. His replacements have been awful.

Ownenu struggled this year at guard and only really played well the last two games when he was moved to tackle.

Other than Douglas, they have no WRs since Bourne went down.

And it isn't all on the QB. The QB gets all the credit and blame, but we saw in 2019 when most people thought Brady was on the decline because he didn't play well and in 2020 when he won a Super Bowl, that the players around the QB make quite a bit of difference.

Mac has seriously regressed, but he wasn't the one who made people run bad routes, drop balls in their hands, whiff on blocks, or cause stupid penalties.
Watch the film.

There are times when receivers are open and Mac isn't throwing to them, but it isn't as frequent as you make it.

And do we need to go through all the games where is a receiver makes a play that the Patriots could be 5-5? How about Boutte not dragging his second foot against the Eagles? Or Reagor dropping what would have been a TD? Or Parker dropping a pass that would have put the Patriots in field goal range to beat the Raiders?

We can go back and forth on plays where one play here or there changes the outcome of the game.
It’s very frequent.
In spite of all those things average QB play has the team at .500 or better.
Not asking for perfect, just asking that in 3 games he doesn’t piss himself.

It’s not about 1 play here or there. It’s about the consistent failure of the QB to do anything well.

Watch the film.

I have. You are overstating how players are open. I posted two screen shots from Sunday where Jones took a sack and no one was open. There are plays where players are open and Mac misses them and they could be huge gains or even TDs. But most of the time, no one is getting open.

They aren't open. They are sometime open. Many times not. I posted screen shots of plays where Mac took a sack and it was clear no one was open.

Yes, if the Pats had a real QB, Hunter Henry would be better than Travis Kelce, Douglas would be challenging Tyreek Hill for the season yardage record, etc. It isn't frequently. Belichick isn't benching receiver left and right for being too open. Look at all the receivers he has benched this year. Juju, Thornton, Boutte. Reagor barely plays. If all these receivers were getting open, they would be playing more rather than an endless rotation of bad receivers.

An average QB isn’t missing those plays. An average qb finds the open guys that are better choices than Jones is making. The receivers are open enough for him to compete a good % of his passes. The problem is he isn’t throwing to the right guy many times leading to short passes requiring long drives where he inevitably screws up a 3rd down.
It’s as bad as I have ever seen.
And how do you explain the last int? That play alone should prove he just doesn’t belong.

Ok, post the film. I posted film on plays where they didn't get open and Jones got sacked for it.

No, if the patriots had a real qb they would be a competent offense and be at least a .500 team.
Juju was not benched. Boutte played 1 game because someone was injured. That’s not a benching.
Raegir was on the practice squad.

The rotation has been almost exclusively because of injury.
