In the wake of Hernandez - Colt Lyerla, Y/N?

1st round: DL
2nd round: TE
3rd round: OL

After that, best potential steal. Michael Sams? Logan Thomas? Someone else who dropped because of injury?

This guy? Seems like nothing but a headache, and iif that' snot the case, Chip Kelly would be all over him. Good news is, Kelly and BB are buddies, so I'm guessing BB knows all about Colt Lyerla.

Plenty of conspiracy theorists are intelligent.

And the funny thing about conspiracy theorists is that for ever 99 bat**** insane theories they are right on 1. There's plenty of **** that has been done by our government which were kept secret and if someone had told you about you would have laughed it off as stupid conspiracy theory.

Mostly I think conspiracy theorists come up with their theories as like, a defense mechanism. Easier to think about the government faking Sandy Hook to take away our guns than some messed up ****er blowing away kids.
There are plenty of intellectually intelligent yet emotionally ******ed people in the world. In this kid's case we're talking about how he perceives reality in the context of possible employment with the Patriots. Sandy Hook happened in New England.

For those who think Lyerla should be considered as a late-rounder or UFA: That's the same "bargain" scenario that caused Ahern to drop in the draft. What if he's brought in cheap, lights it up and you can't keep him off the field, then at mid-season is busted for doing coke? The Patriots would never live it down.

Y! SPORTS

“The parents of the kids that supposedly died in the sandy hook situation are liars,” Lyerla tweeted and later deleted.

There is no way he gets drafted or signed by the New England Patriots as UDFA. That is one circus that is not coming to town.....And certainly not after last year's events surrounding the prisoner....

We should also start screening people who think JFK was killed by the CIA, that Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan in 2002, the moon landing was faked.

But why stop there I mean, the majority of the nation believes in evolution so let's also not bring in any creationists. Or people who are anti-abortion. Also, gay marriage is approved by the majority so everyone who joins better be ready to support gay marriage with pins and changing their facebook status and wearing rainbow suspenders.

I believe we need to create an outline of core team political and historical beliefs and all players need to take an oath attesting to their beliefs to each.

What a ridiculous post.

His point: where do you draw the line? who decides what personal opinions are acceptable or unacceptable?

I agree that there needs to be a line.

No more gingers. Let some other team deal with all those soulless bastards!

If I am an owner or the one making decisions I would draw it when someone tried to make a claim that absurd and offensive. I wouldn't want a Holocaust denier or someone who made offensive statements about 9-11 either. As a fan I definitely don't want this crackpot anyhwere near this team, calling the parents of the kids slaughtered in Newtown "liars" is disgusting. I don't buy the idea that his claims are the same as political differences.

The Patriots do. They're a private enterprise and can take anyone off their draft board for any reason.

I would think he would be off the board based on ownership influence and what happened with Hernandez.

Agree completely. The Patriots ownership and management have that right.

But God help us here in this forum if they decided not to sign a player because he supported gay marriage or other issues as fnord suggested.

No...no way...no no no and double secret probation NO...we draft this head case and in a matter of days SG3 and Rayge Rayge will be here posting hundreds of .jpgs from Jets Insewersider and claiming we're infected with listeria...(I know...Lyerla to listeria is a stretch BUT...consider the Jet morons and their crippled brain functions)

Again Pissah I think there is plenty of room for political differences but not much if any for people who make really hateful statements, and that's exactly what he did. Imo calling the parents of the children slaughtered in Newtown "liars" is despicable and goes way over the line. I don't want anything to do with this guy and I would be completely disgusted with the Patriots if they were ignorant enough to bring him in.

Differences over social and political issues certainly should be tolerated. Denying reality shouldn't.

Who did this, Ivan?

Are we still talking about the Oregon TE--Lyerla?

If true, that changes my mind a bit. I was never too high on the guy to begin with, but I thought it'd be worth a shot if he slid far down enough.

Found this with a quick web search.

Not a bright guy. Stupid like that can't translate well to the NFL.

How freaking bizarre....

The kicker is, a lot of players like this are talented enough to make a difference too. It's hard to have a group full of choirboys, but comments like these are simply too far out of left field for me.

Watch someone take him in the 4th/5th round, and turn him into a playmaker. Such is today's NFL. What a shame.

He's claiming that the 20 kids didn't die...... That's a far cry from any of the scenarios you proposed.....and a lot more whacked out....

That's my take on it as well, trying to equate the claim that the children and teachers in Newtown weren't murdered to opposition to abortion is about as bizarre as it gets.

If we're banning people who say whacked out stuff, Patsfans.com is going to lost about 95% of its posters.
