I think JuJu was more in line with what they do schematically. JuJu is was a far better YAC guy than Meyers who typically catches the ball and goes down pretty quickly. I was on board with JuJu.

Where Belichick and the front office deserves all the criticism in the world is that they took him knowing his knee was an issue.

SMH.

What teams would Belichick take over if he's fired from the Patriots?

Bears? Chargers? Jets? Giants? Rams? Cowboys? Commanders? Bucs?

My guess is that Belichick would only go to a place like the Chargers. He wants to go to a place where everything is almost in place to be a contender. I doubt he would want to go somewhere where he has to a major rebuild. And he certainly isn't going to the Jets no matter how much is in place for him there.

Interesting. Maybe they thought Juju was a better fit for Mac.

Meyers is a very good WR2 on most teams(borderline WR1) so it was puzzling that the Pats moved on from him when they don't even have a WR1. His 11 million a year salary that he got from Vegas wasn't expensive

In only 3 games, his 199 yards would be leading the Patriots.
Heck, Jonnu Smith's 179yds would be leading the Patriots.

This is misleading. Cam only threw 368 times for 2657 for 8 TDs and 10 INTs. The Pats picked and chose where he threw the ball. It wasn't like he was a normal QB. Even the mobile QBs throw more than that with better results.
I mean is 368 in 14+ games really that far off from Mac's 442 in 13+ games? C'mon. That's just nitpicking. It's a big enough sample.

First, Cam played 15 games while Mac played 14. Cam threw an average of 24.5 average per game and Mac threw an average of 31.6 last year. That is a significant difference.

Not sure why you didn't mention Mac's 521 passes (30.6 average per game) his rookie season when they were managing him or his TD numbers compared to Cam (22 and 14). I mean through four games, Mac only has three less passing TDs than Cam had the entire season.

Fact is the Patriots didn't throw much with Cam. They knew he was limited and picked and chose when they would throw with him.

I stand by my statement that it's a big enough sample for a comparison, even when one looks at the total number of offensive plays run during the season (although it does help your point).

2020 - 979
2021 - 1052
2022 - 1006

It's not the sample size. It is how each QBs was used in the offense. They knew Cam couldn't throw and they limited his throws and when he threw. You cannot compare the two because they were used differently.

It seems like some people are focusing on Joe Biden's decline with age, yet they fail to acknowledge that Bill Belichick is also getting older. At 70 years old, it is unreasonable to use his performance in his early 50s as a measure of his current abilities.

As the saying goes, "The seeds of failure are grown during the good times," and the Patriots serve as a prime example. Belichick runs the team in a way that is typical of many business owners from his generation. His ego seems to dictate everything, including hiring his unqualified children and surrounding himself with yes-men. It's time for him to start considering a new approach, one that is more inclusive and open to diverse perspectives.

What are you shaking your head for? @Rob0729 is right on the money. Everyone on this board thought the WR room on the Patriots sucked, so they made a change and everyone said "OH NOT HIM! NOT MEYERS!"

Rob's take is accurate.
There were a few of us that didn't like the Juju Meyers swap at the time. Me being one of them.

Cam started a Pats game completing 20 of 21 passes. Another game he threw for 397yds (2nd game). Don't give me this he couldn't throw and they limited him. You're making stuff up at this point. He was used differently because he was a dual threat QB.

Newton couldn’t throw consistently. It’s not even a question. He had some throws he could make but a lot his throws missed literally by yards. Do you not remember fans lobbying for them to change the rule that we can count catches after one bounce?

I can't disagree with you there - he was Jekyll and Hyde, and it was massively frustrating at times (especially the darn simple dump offs). When he was on, he was on, but it's not dissimilar from what's going on with Mac, who couldn't even hit Rham 3yds away last game on a dump off, but will have these flashes of brilliance. Ugh - remnants of watching TB12 withdrawal.

I pointed out that same take a while back poor due diligence by BB if he knew about Juju's knees. BB should have just slept on the extra cap $$$$ like he's use to.

He started out strong and basically turned into a RB who could pass pretty quickly.

He had four games in 2020 where he didn't even pass for 85 yards. Four games. Mac has not passed for at least 85 yards twice in his career (the blizzard game in Buffalo and the Chicago game where he was quickly pulled).

Nine games he passed for 167 or less yards (for reference, Mac has not passed for 167 yards or more six times in 2 1/4 years).

He had five games where he passed for less than 20 times. Mac has only passed 20 times or less twice in career (the same two games) although he only passed 21 times in both times he faced Dallas.

Stop it. You cannot compare the two. And besides you are cherry picking stats. Notice how you still won't touch comparing passing TDs for the two.

Not gonna stop dude - Cam had Izzo as his best TE and Mac had Henry (9TDs Mac's rookie year). C'mon. Cam had to use his legs for the 12 rushing TDs because he had no Red Zone threat like Henry.

Honestly - imagine this year no Henry nor Giskecki but just Izzo (and undrafted WRs and N'Keal) - I mean how f'd would Mac and the Pats be right now? Cam was used to Greg Olsen.
