Who would it be?

Don't evaluate their ages right now - just going by how they were when they played during the Super Bowl years of 2001 to 2004

And who ever you chose - how they would have helped this team?

(BTW: Tom Brady is not an option, this is for former players only)

No question about it: Ty Law. Not the Ty Law of 2008, the Ty Law of 2001-03. He was always 110% in the big games and the playoffs.

Once again their age right now is irrelevant,I am talking about their performance during the 2001-2004 seasons

Ty Law in his prime for sure.

Ditto. Ty Law circa 2003. Nobody would be referring to our secondary as being weak.

Interesting Law vs. Samuel. I vote Law but admit I am biased because I still haven't forgiven Asante for letting that Eli Manning duck go right through his hands. No way Ty doesn't come up with that one IMO.

Does it have to be limited to players on your poll?

If so, I keep my vote for Law. If not, I'm inclined to go with Mike Haynes or Andre Tippett. Either would do wonders for our secondary!

Ty Law is most likley the winner of this poll but I went for my 2nd favorite OLB of all time - Willie Mac

Only Andre Tippett was better with outside pressure as an OLB in his prime than the Mac IMO

Yeah,I like to let members only allowed to choose 1 player in my polls - Because its tough and makes it interesting to ponder as well

Haynes wasn't around in 2001 anyways

Tom Brady. He is not on the active roster right now. He was when they won the superbowls.

This team could use a dose of Roman Phifer circa 2001 right now to shore up the LB corps.

Also, if I could take one player on BOTH offense and defense. My choice on offense also did not make your list. What could Matt Cassel do with Moss, Welker, and Ben Coates?!

WOW!

Brady is NOT a FORMER player,He is still a member of the NE Patriots - That is why his choice is irrelevant here

WOW!

If you go by the Super Bowl years the Dan Graham as TE is a good choice

A player that was ALWAYS under the radar and never truly respected was Christian Fauria - Christian was a hell of a good TE for us.

Am I the only one who thought about adding Roman Phifer when he was in his prime. He was an integral part of that Defense and is exactly what we need to cover TE's over the middle.

Now granted Ty Law was a better Defender, but I was surprised to see he did not make the list.

Wow, way too serious. Lighten up.

Folks are actually debating my "Tony Romo" answer to the question of "Who will be the *one* key to a SB push?"

Once again Tebucky Jones gets jobbed in one of these polls. Considering this team needs better tackling so Jones was the obvious choice. No one tackled like Jones. Granted it was usually him tackling one of his own teammates, but boy could he lay them out.

Terry Glenn, we all need a good laugh

Hey, where was Drew Bledsoe on the list???

from the list, daniel graham.........the offense lost any toughness the moment he left

but I agree.....andre tippett would be good around now

Actually I LOVED Phifer and wanted to add him to the list but you are only allowed 10 choices at the max

Don't forget Bobby Hamilton and that Brickhouse Ted Washington who was the best ever NT in Pats history in his 1 year here IMO
