If the Pats lose, would you root for Chargers/Chiefs in SB?

For as long as I can remember a loss meant not only losing but having to watch the Steelers, Ravens, or a Manning team get a chance to walk away with the Lombardi. So essentially I’ve rooted hard for the NFC in each Super Bowl for the past 20 years.

Obviously no one here can be a real fan stomach the Colts/Irsay, but what about the Chiefs or Chargers? Would you potentially be rooting for an AFC team this year, or be neutral at the least?

So if the Patriots don’t win, then...

I would like to see Philip Rivers get a ring. He’s been a better QB than Eli and arguably than Roethlisberger, but he’s had so many crappy teams and disappointments.

I would also like to see Andy Reid finally get a ring, as he’s a very underrated coach and probably the second best of this era. He’s had to fight in the playoffs with Alex Smith and Donovan McNabb. The Chiefs have “put their time in” and been a perennial contender for years now as well, and I typically root for teams like that to get rings (rather than fluky luck teams like the Giants who are totally unworthy of their titles.)

Thoughts?

I do agree Reid or Rivers getting a ring would make a great story.

Id be ok with the Chiefs or Chargers winning the SB, Rivers is a long toothed vet and a good person.. Would be a great thing for him to end his career with a SB ring

I also wouldnt mind seeing Andy Reid get a SB ring, hes been at it awhile and come so close so many times

I do NOT want the Eagles to win the SB

Depends on the matchup. I have friends who are Saint, Eagle, and Cowboy fans. If my team can't win I will always cheer for my friends teams (not named Jets).

If the Saints win, enjoy reading articles like this for eternity:

Mahomes will beat out Drew Bress for MVP, but Drew’s still GOAT

This is a fan article but not far off from mainstream NOLA stuff. That reason alone makes the Saints not a top choice of mine though I do like the team and Brees. They’ve just gone into overdrive with their revisionist view of him as a player now that he set a lame random record. He’s suddenly the undisputed GOAT according to Saints fans. Seeing them crash down to earth wouldn’t be the worst thing.

i think this is the last year you will be able to root for mahomes. If he wins the superbowl he is going to be the new IT player for fans who don't follow football more then just casually.

Phillip rivers is very unlikable.

Probably true about Mahomes. He’ll be the hot take media’s new GOAT going forward now that Rodgers is declining.

Rivers is unlikeable if you haven’t followed his career pretty closely. The guy likes to trash talk and comes across as obnoxious, but along with that come some interesting personal quirks. He’s just kind of a strange guy...really he reminds me of Favre in many ways.

Why in your opinion is Rivers unlikable? I like him,he’s a competitor

**** that I hope the Saints lose. The Brees GOAT **** has gone too far this year. I want Rivers to win if the Patriots don’t
