If Big Ben is "tough" then what does that make Brady

It's his off field things we hear. That leads others to think he isn't tough. It sure looked like his had was hurting today and for the most part all of his passes were on target

that has nothing to do with it...you slam every other poster on this board for mocking Big Ben, as if this is some terrible failing...well then, do it for all the other poor pinatas we target all season. It's YOU that needs to check YOUR sensitivity meter. Nobody is THAT stupid to really believe the insults thrown around at Rothlisberger...jeezus krist, watch other teams publicly blast Brady with openly homophobic remarks for the past ten years. Point out your outraged posts about THAT, or else take a tissue and blow your nose...Nancy.

I need to check my sensitivity meter? You might want to read our posts and see who is getting bent out of shape over my comment.

WHAT????...why you......

There is admittedly plenty of anti Steeler bias in my opinion. But if you are tough, why do you have to showcase (or lie) about your injuries? Tough guys play in pain and they also don't use injuries as an excuse or try to prove their "toughness" by embellishing injuries when the camera is on.

This guy tried to claim he had broken toes in the 04 AFC championship game and his own former coach basically called him a liar without saying it. Somehow I doubt we'd hear anything like that from our QB. And to think ignorant and uninformed fans call Brady a wuss among other things.

IMO the Steelers OL has only been awful in the last 3 years or so, it's been a strength of that team for much of Ben's career.

In 12 full seasons, Brady has been sacked 323 times. In 10 seasons, meathead has been sacked 365 times. And meathead is a heck of a lot harder to bring down due to his size, so he takes plenty of hits that don't result in sacks. Brady's line has been solid for much of his career.

Roethlisberger has taken a lot of sacks because he holds onto the ball. TB has played for years in an offense that emphasizes quick throws.

I'm not saying the OL doesn't have anything to do with it, but a lot of it has to do with who is playing QB.

Well, obviously he is Mr. Hide-E-Ho because he tries to hide his injuries from the press (and, let's see, maybe the opponent who might try to target the area(s)), rather than display them with appropriate grunts, groans, stumbles, limps and moans, and of course, the occasional fall to the turf writhing in agony. Luckily for us, the Steelers visit this weekend, so we can get a taste of what we've been missing.

The point of this thread was Brady's Herculean resistance to injury through a comparison to Roethlisberger, not Roethlisberger's technique that might shed some sacks with a quicker release. Meathead can scramble as well, so can try to outrun some hits but still gets hit an awful lot. This article nicely summarizes the comparative damage he has taken in the past 5 years.

Ultimately, Brady has not taken any way near the damage Roethlisberger has game in and game out. It is only this year that the sack number is comparable. I am absolutely not calling Brady anything other than a tough competitor, but in terms of routinely taking damage behind his line he isn't in the same galaxy as meathead. It is a strange analogy to choose, because no logical mind can claim Brady has been taking David Carr-type damage with the Pats. The same is not true of meathead.

Virtually every NFL player is tough as nails.

Why is there a perception out there that Big Ben is a tough guy and Brady is a wimp?

I say it's the complete opposite. Brady goes out there hurt and guts it out, and you don't hear him talk about injuries or use it as an excuse.

Some other QB's are injury embellishing drama queens. When the cameras are on, the limp begins. There are a lot of words to describe guys like that but "tough" is not one of them.

LMAO

It's too bad that Rodney Harrison's clownish comment about Brady and the skirt had to air. That didn't exactly help with this perception...

I know he has played through some injuries in his career but I really have a hard time buying into the Big Ben is tough mantra, the guy has played a full 16 game regular season one time in his career, ironically that was the only season Brady didn’t play a full 16 games season since starting his career in week 2 of 2001. That by default leads me to believe Brady is a much tougher player, the only time he has come off the field is when he blew out his knee, Brady is a gamer and the greatest QB to ever take the field in my opinion.

Is anyone contesting Brady's toughness here, or certainly his ability as QB? He is a better QB, easily. Brady and Manning both had lengthy consecutive game streaks (Manning even more than Brady). So Manning is even tougher than Brady, because he played in more consecutive games than Brady did? By your logic, you are a tough QB if you never get touched behind an outstanding offensive line, because you do not miss games. If you surround yourself by the biggest and meanest bodyguards on the planet, who make sure nobody comes within 50 feet of you, are you yourself big and mean? No. That proposition is ridiculous.

If you get hit more, then it is more likely you get injured. It really is a simple proposition. Roethlisberger absolutely and without question takes a whole lot more hits than Brady. As for those articles, did Roethlisberger say he had a fractured rib, or did the team/media? Have you tried to move with cartilage damage, which can be confused with a cracked rib? Have you tried to throw with that condition?

The team likely knows within 30 minutes if there is a break. Certainly within one day it knows what an injury is. I am no Roethlisberger fan, but I am objective enough to say we may never have heard the name Brady if he played behind that line. What Brady does well as a QB is not a part of that offensive system, and Brady is not physically built to take the damage the Steelers QB has to endure. I like Brady here, and there is no QB I would rather have, so that works fine for me.
