I think BB is on the Autism spectrum

I'm not an expert, but he exhibits similarities to all of the people I've met who are on the spectrum. The lack of social norms, the ability to hyper focus, the lack of caring about appearance, the memory recall ability. Hell I even heard a story from a Kevin Faulk interview where he didn't respond to Kevin saying good morning for 3 years as they passed in the hallway. That has lack of social cues and awareness written all over it.

I think over the years BB has learned those social skills a bit more, but you can see he's only happy when talking X's and O's, football history, and fishing.

I don't think he's far into the spectrum, but definitely exhibits signs.

The man gets us 5 SuperBowls and counting, has us in contention every year and you post this nonsense? For what reason? Are you just a troll? Disgusting.

You realize you're judging a persona that BB consciously presents to the media, right? Noob.

I find it difficult to see which of the 7 deadly sins the newer generations are dealing with in a different way.

gluttony
lust
greed
hubris
wrath
vanity
sloth

The human condition hasn't changed in thousands of years, just the speed of the data.

No argument there, the human condition is still there and stronger than ever.. but kids these days are growing up in a much different environment than even I did at 34 (and i grew up right at the explosion of gaming systems and home PC systems), and wayyyyyy different than 50+ years ago where the American Dream was more of a blue collar approach... Husband wakes up and goes to the factory or wherever, made enough money to buy a house, a car and take care of a wife and 2.5 kids

The human condition will never change, but unfortunately there are more ways for humans to take a dip in one of the 7 deadly sins... its very easy to do these days, and the overload of information, including horrifying video footage, news coverage, etc is desensitizing people in a way like never before.. which isnt a good thing

You must be getting into psych 101 course reading material...

If so, then the spectrum is too wide to be meaningful.

As a fellow ADHD person, I couldn't help but chuckle at these 2 sentences that were back to back, but in separate paragraphs... because I laugh about this with my doctor all the time

then

This is just another example of what our society has decided to be "acceptable" drug use, and has decided to apply a stigma to other types of drugs (similar to Alcohol vs Weed)

Coffee contains CAFFEINE... a HIGHLY ADDICTIVE substance that is a stimulant.. meaning it stimulates the central nervous system and speeds up neural responses that travel from the brain to everywhere else in your body

Caffeine can cause mental disorders and drug dependence, it can have SERIOUS physical withdrawl symptoms (ive witnessed this first hand with an ATHLETIC friend of mine that drank 3+ monster energy drinks a day, then tried to stop and would get massive migraines). There is research that links even moderate caffeine use to negative health effects

So society, at least older generations.. think in their minds

Caffeine = Good
Adderall = Bad

Going to the coffee machine like its your master is worse for you than taking a proper dose of extended release adderall. I see it every day at work, everyone at meetings or commenting "I'm only on my 2nd cup, by my 3rd or 4th I should be good to go... just no one talk to me until im on at least my 3rd cup *insert HAHAHAHAHAHA laughter as everyone sips their stimulant drug*

People have made comments to me directly "You don't drink coffee!? How do you keep going throughout the day?".. Well, I take a medically prescribed dosage of extended release adderall that helps me concentrate/focus, is WAY cheaper than getting a $4-5 coffee every day and doesn't wire me up and cause withdrawl symptoms by 2PM

My doctor said it best, "People are weird.. they'll slam adderrall as some awful drug but then run and get their morning coffee over and over again... they're just self-medicating"

I'll choose Adderrall over coffee every day of the week, and be healthier for it.
I’m an expert on addiction after 30 years of sobriety. If I’m somewhere that I can’t get coffee for 8-10 hours, it doesn’t bother me.

Coffee is natural and has many benefits. Adderral is a product of big Pharma.

If you trust big Pharma over Mother Nature, that’s your right. I don’t knock or judge others for their choices just as you don’t ;)

I’ve used both and I actually felt a buzz on adderrall. The back of my head would tingle. Maybe it’s different for you?

The one fact I’m sure of is that people can get addicted to adderall to the extent they require professional treatment. No one is admitted for a coffee addiction.

Also, if someone that was not prescribed Adderrall is taking the drug, they have addiction issues and could be arrested if found in their possession. You can’t give away doses of your Adderrall or you can be arrested

But hey, let’s send 10 patrol cars over to Starbucks!:p

You would be fine without it

As a guy married to a certified ABA therapist, the OP is very wrong...
She's been at it for almost 20 years and, sorry, according to her, Belichick is very far from the "spectrum"

So you have vast experience seeing him in social settings, knowing what he is happy talking about, that he doesn’t care about his appearance?
Awful post.

Can we get a mod to move this to the place where stupid threads go?
@ashley1992 @Ross12 ??

Well, turns out nobody here has any understanding of or empathy for mental health. Shocker!

C'mon man! At first I thought the OP was joking and then I saw that he was serious. I originally wrote a longer post, but deleted it.

Words can't describe or respond in an adequate manner.

Mods. Maybe move the thread?

It did really go off topic but apart from the "BB being on the spectrum" part, other parts of the discussion about ADHD and medications (and coffee) are interesting, I wanted to post my 2 cents and started typing an answer but I'm working now so I saved the draft and I'll keep up with this thread later.

Eventually the mods will move but I think there is a discussion going on that can benefit a few people after all life as a Pats fan has been so easy in these days we don't even rant anymore, just on the game day thread. Not a lot to discuss, I visit other boards and people are depressed.

I didn’t read any more than the op. You can still post in the practice squad forum or whatever it’s called but it just seems wrong to have a thread with this title at the top of the main page.

Oh for the love of the blessed virgin

The guy is not autistic, he is anti social and has a mind like Einstein’s. Albert didn’t care about appearance, did not like talking to people if it was not productive. Wore the same clothes every day so he wouldn’t waste mental energy figuring out what to wear etc.

As those in AA told me when I first got there.....

If you’re looking for sympathy, look it up in the dictionary and you’ll find it between **** and syphylus

Wheelman always finds my posts useful!

Please tell me you’re not worried that Bill might see this thread or hear about it!

If he did, he’d laugh his arse off

If this thread was about me, I’d be proud as hell!
