I think BB is on the Autism spectrum

I'm not an expert, but... you can see he's only happy when talking X's and O's, football history, and fishing. s.

Just wondering...have you seen his partner?

His characteristics are similar to mega successful leaders like the late Steve Jobs. He holds people to extremely high standards and has a brilliant mind which no one else really understands. For that reason many of his decisions are counterintuitive to the rest of us.

Belichick is a perfectionist who always demands improvement. I don’t think that he is autistic, but I think there are a lot of “symptoms” that could be misinterpreted. A lot of head football coaches have similar personalities to Belichick, along with leaders in commerce and military. Typically autistic people do not lead others well since they have trouble understanding human motivation and don’t like being in the spotlight.

That's not true, the CEO of Micro Strategy, sarge company is very far into the spectrum. People like that are generally extremely smart

Have you ever interacted with people on the "spectrum"???

Lack of social norms?? Wtf does that mean?? One time I was at an event with he and Jim Brown and #32 said(I paraphrase): "If Michael Jordan did half as much as BB did the world would be a different place".. have heard that same comment uttered before. What you see on the field is a well scripted personna that takes to focus off of the players and puts it directly on him. BTW he exhibited very well refined social graces in person..

"Hyperfocus" no need to comment on that idiotic statement.. would you prefer Rex Ryan talking about snacks and "shakey weights"???

Lack of caring about appearance, is a giant FU to the NFL rules that mandates that he must wear Nike Equipment on the sideline.. so he is not being sloppy, he does not care about what he wears... for years he wore the same green suit and then he met Linda Holiday.

If interested here is a layman's guide to what the Autism Spectrum is.. you should not be diagnosing BB or anyone, that is the sole venue of trained, licensed professionals..

Understanding autism - Autism Awareness Australia

I have interacted with people on the spectrum. They exhibit incredible ability for recall, I met this one kid that could draw you a map backwards from anywhere he went the first time. I've met a guy that started and runs a 500 million dollar a ywar company, and I've met a guy that lives out of his car.

People act like it's a bad thing. It's not, it just something that struck me from his actions and his interviews/stories from others. Everyone cam calm down

Most people who know Belichick say that he's actually pretty normal and funny. He puts on an act when dealing with the press and probably developed a good deal of disdain for them over the years. He's not stupid, he knows his persona.

I don't think it's an act what he does with the media. He's just being assertive. You ask the right questions and you'll see BB talk. Of course the media is all about hot takes so from aside from the few respectable local beat reporters, nobody reports when BB talks football history or strategy. They just talk about it when he's assertive towards a reporter.

I'm not an expert, but he exhibits similarities to all of the people I've met who are on the spectrum. The lack of social norms, the ability to hyper focus, the lack of caring about appearance, the memory recall ability. Hell I even heard a story from a Kevin Faulk interview where he didn't respond to Kevin saying good morning for 3 years as they passed in the hallway. That has lack of social cues and awareness written all over it.

I think over the years BB has learned those social skills a bit more, but you can see he's only happy when talking X's and O's, football history, and fishing.

I don't think he's far into the spectrum, but definitely exhibits signs.
You are right.
People do not understand the light spectrum includes ultraviolet (or is it infra red) and most of it is invisible.
People will think you called him ******ed or whatever. What he said was he concentrates on one thing and ignores others. Yes, he is on the spectrum. Everyone is.

As a fellow ADHD person, I couldn't help but chuckle at these 2 sentences that were back to back, but in separate paragraphs... because I laugh about this with my doctor all the time

then

This is just another example of what our society has decided to be "acceptable" drug use, and has decided to apply a stigma to other types of drugs (similar to Alcohol vs Weed)

Coffee contains CAFFEINE... a HIGHLY ADDICTIVE substance that is a stimulant.. meaning it stimulates the central nervous system and speeds up neural responses that travel from the brain to everywhere else in your body

Caffeine can cause mental disorders and drug dependence, it can have SERIOUS physical withdrawl symptoms (ive witnessed this first hand with an ATHLETIC friend of mine that drank 3+ monster energy drinks a day, then tried to stop and would get massive migraines). There is research that links even moderate caffeine use to negative health effects

So society, at least older generations.. think in their minds

Caffeine = Good
Adderall = Bad

Going to the coffee machine like its your master is worse for you than taking a proper dose of extended release adderall. I see it every day at work, everyone at meetings or commenting "I'm only on my 2nd cup, by my 3rd or 4th I should be good to go... just no one talk to me until im on at least my 3rd cup *insert HAHAHAHAHAHA laughter as everyone sips their stimulant drug*

People have made comments to me directly "You don't drink coffee!? How do you keep going throughout the day?".. Well, I take a medically prescribed dosage of extended release adderall that helps me concentrate/focus, is WAY cheaper than getting a $4-5 coffee every day and doesn't wire me up and cause withdrawl symptoms by 2PM

My doctor said it best, "People are weird.. they'll slam adderrall as some awful drug but then run and get their morning coffee over and over again... they're just self-medicating"

I'll choose Adderrall over coffee every day of the week, and be healthier for it.

I'm a coffee guy, have been for about 50 years now. It tastes better than Adderall.

Seriously, I understand the potential negative effects of long term use of caffeine, and I accept them. I have no idea what the effects of 50 years of Adderall use might be. No slam on Adderall. For me it's simply a "devil that you know" thing.

No argument there, the human condition is still there and stronger than ever.. but kids these days are growing up in a much different environment than even I did at 34 (and i grew up right at the explosion of gaming systems and home PC systems), and wayyyyyy different than 50+ years ago where the American Dream was more of a blue collar approach... Husband wakes up and goes to the factory or wherever, made enough money to buy a house, a car and take care of a wife and 2.5 kids

The human condition will never change, but unfortunately there are more ways for humans to take a dip in one of the 7 deadly sins... its very easy to do these days, and the overload of information, including horrifying video footage, news coverage, etc is desensitizing people in a way like never before.. which isnt a good thing

Great posts. Very interesting.

Awesome post man! I never drank coffee, but I would drink cups of black tea in the past. I swore it off a few years ago. I'm pretty proud of myself for doing so.:)

Oh for the love of the blessed virgin

The guy is not autistic, he is anti social and has a mind like Einstein’s. Albert didn’t care about appearance, did not like talking to people if it was not productive. Wore the same clothes every day so he wouldn’t waste mental energy figuring out what to wear etc.
He's the furthest thing from anti-social. Anti-media perhaps. But, if you think BB is anti-social, you really don't know what that condition is.
