Tom E. Curran just explained (again) why Welker isn't playing for the Pats and I believe his opinion more than what I'm reading from all the arm chair analysts here, ESPECIALLY the Bill's fan.
-Pats made offer to Welker.
-Welker said "I have to talk to my agents".
-Welker's agents severely overvalued Wes' value in the market.
-The agents said, "No, Wes is worth MUCH more on the open market and is fielding other offers."
-Pats didn't want to be left empty handed knowing the importance of a quality slot receiver in their system.
-Pats sign Amendola for the amount they offered Welker.
-No team stepped forward to offer Wes the big $$$. Welker says he'll take Pats' offer.
-Too late, Amendola already signed to the $$$ they allocated for the position.
-Welker goes back to Denver and has to convince Elway to sign him.
That's it. No Bill drove him out of town BS. Wes wanted to play for the Pats. His agents screwed things up. Greed got in the way.
BTW, check the stats. Even with Amendola missing so many games, Pats still have same production out of the slot position, thanks to the great play by Edleperson.
