I keep my bets

I propose a duel at 40 paces using matching flintlock pistols. Or maybe AI can do it. Might be safer.

I could be wrong but I read Andy’s proposition as Sam needing to stop posting so much negativity, not stop posting entirely. So leaving is only necessary if Sam is incapable of positivity, which isn’t true.

Though one thing we can all agree on: betting against the Pats’ best interests is negative karma. Just don’t do it.

No, it’s was not an emotional bet. It was a bet made after many interactions, and literally made because I feel the board it a better place without him. It has nothing to do with censoring opinions, it has everything to do with censoring attitudes, and contribution or detracting from the board.
Posting that he will honor his bet and saying this
For those here who do not get personal and welcome all viewpoints, thank you for the experience
does not show good intentions.

I made the bet because I prefer the board without his incessant negativity.
He’s by far not one of the most egregious.

Incessant negativity isn't something in which I partake, and I will generally disagree with it, even if those types had their time in the sun in 2023-2024. I actually rather enjoy the fruits of it at times. The aftermath of "I don't care. I can't stand it" is still delicious and this has been entertaining as well.

All of that said, stick around dude. Yeah, I pretty much disagree with about 80% of your posts but, personally, I deplore echo chambers.

After last game of the season, I will not post on this board again.

For those here who do not get personal and welcome all viewpoints, thank you for the experience

Sam

Lets make that bet!!!
If you win I will leave the board forever

If I win you must state on this board that I have better judgment than you

Who cares. Don't leave. It's a bet on a ****in' website. The constant harping on you to follow the bet is clown **** lmao. As long as you handle the pushback with ease and don't get mean about stuff, who tf cares if you're making a negative post.

I offered the bet because the incessant negativity he posts diminishes my enjoyment of the board. He accepted. Hes a grown man.

We're """"grown men/women"""" on a fan forum, man. Tbh, I don't think we should be in the business of determining who is and who isn't an adult.

A few things:

- Betting to leave the board is just silly and shouldn't be something people should do. I don't think Sam should have to leave and there is no way to enforce this anyway.
- Ian, provides this board for everyone. People who are homers. People who are haters or doomsayers and all in between. I don't think people should decide what content they feel is what should be on this board or not. If someone wants to come here and say the Patriots suck and they are frauds or whatever, they have a right. Ian has provided everyone tools to ignore people who post content you do not like. If Sam wants to post negative content about the Pats, he has every right as Andy has to post homer content. If they don't like each other comments, they can put each other on ignore.

You can do you and I’m not going to stand in your way or anything. I just find the entire thing petty, that’s all. He’s not free of blame. I don’t get how a 13-4 season at worst results in constant negativity. I also think him changing the bet at the end is on him too. Though, having mercy shows character and you have a chance to do just that. However, this is between you two and I’m not going to post about it in this thread any further

Good thoughts gentlemen but a bet is a bet, unless you're Triumph of course.

Some bets are just too silly to enforce. And I wonder if Andy would have honored the bet if the Pats went 5-12.

Actually, being a man of honor Sam has no choice. Unless someone who has previously shown they are honor challenged relents and shows some grace, Sam leaving is outside his control. Ironic that
Although I value loyalty and honor, I don't think handshake bets on a Internet message board raise the level of being an honor-bound.

I teach my grandkids to not lie and to honor the commitments they make, but I do not hold the grandkids to pinky swears.

Given his history I don't wonder about it at all

Not the first thing we've disagreed about and most likely not the last, what really matters is that we do it amicably
Of course the only opinions that count in this matter are Sam's and Andy's

I get **** wrong all the time dawg
I thought Vrabel was a mid hire
Or Diggs wouldnt work etc
We are always wrong at some point

I don't see how Andy's opinion matters.

Yep. Grown men trying to drive someone off a football board for making a silly wager, to me, is worse than the guy making a silly wager.

When I saw all of the welcher insults I imagined that some sort of wager involving children cancer charities was reneged upon instead of some throw away sports forum argument wager.

Then why don’t you just ignore or mute him, it’s not that complicated.

Honour is a two way street.
Would the other member of this bet honour if they lost?
I don't see how this is up to anyone but Sam and what he is comfortable with.
I fully support him staying if he decides that's what he wants to do, and I hope he does stay.
