I Don't Think That Vrabel Will Draft Hunter At 4

I think people either over analyze or dismiss whatever teams say far too easily. Sometimes when a coach or GM gives an answer on a prospect, it is just an honest assessment and giving an answer to the question with no meaning behind it.

The Pats have no control of whether Carter or Hunter will be available to them at 4. If either are there at 4, I doubt whatever Vrabel is saying right now will generate more or less trade interest in the pick if he doesn't want to draft the one that falls to the Pats. If there were more blue chip players that would be available for the Pats at 4, misdirection on Vrabel's part would be good strategy. I don't see the value in this draft.

LT is the glaring need elephant in the room.

Draft an overhyped Colorado WR.
LT is in better hands with Morgan Moses, but at 34, the Patriots need a great young player to share the snaps and learn. Check this out:

Wolfe and Groh are running the draft per order of Thunder Kraft.

Kraft has to show that he is the NEP GM to make into Canton. Like big Jerry did.
Yeah it certainly seemed as if Kraft was running the draft last year, ugh....

They'd have done better running a poll here on Patsfans before each pick. Imagine Wolf asking here if he should trade down in the 2nd round for a lousy move up in day 3. The trade would have been shut down the moment it got posted and we'd have Ladd.

It would all have gone so much better that we may still have Mayo.

From that perspective I'm actually kinda glad for Polk-Wallace-Robinson-Baker. They are not the heroes we wanted but the ones we needed.

If Vrabel doesn’t take Hunter at 4, it’ll be because he was already taken before that.

Or it could mean that Carter wasn't already taken before that, granted that's not likely

Is there a LT available at #4 who is definitely and significantly better than someone they can trade back into the first round to get late in the first or stay where they are in the second and draft? There isn't a LT in this draft without major question marks. Campbell may end up being a guard. Membou is a RT. All the rest of the guys may be available in the 20s and the Pats may be able to trade up to get.

The only way I want the Pats drafting a LT is if they trade down for one.
I find it hard to buy that there is not 1 LT in this draft worth the # 4 pick.

This year too.

Otherwise you fire Wolfe and Groh and hand it all over to Vrabel. But, Thunder Kraft just told us all that he gave BB too much control. So, why would he do the exact same thing again with Vrabel? Thunder coitized Belichicks drafting in public and then took draft power from BB and brought in his boys Wolfe and Groh.

Its the old HC vs the GM fight for control.

If Wolfe and Groh screw this up they'll be asta lavista because Vrabel will have 2nd thoughts about staying in a spot where he is expected to cook the meal, but cant buy the groceries.

Are you intoxicated? How can the Heisman Trophy, the Chuck Bednarik Award, the Walter Camp Award, AP College Football Player of the Year, the SN College Football Player of the Year, the Lott Trophy winner, Academic All-American of the Year, 2× Paul Hornung Award winner, Unanimous All-American, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and the Fred Biletnikoff Award winner be overhyped?

The dude is not overhyped. He earned these things. Ya, LT is a glaring need, but you don't trash a player because you want an LT.

Old Moses was with the Jets twice and has bounced around the NFL.

He just had his 34th birthday.

You read too many draft magazines.

How many NFL caliber DBs did this phenom face? What happens when this Colorado sensation gets to the NFL and 1 CB can take him out of the game?

Is Mel Kiper still alive?

If you ask Dante Scarnecchia, there is rarely a LT in any draft that is worthy of the #4 pick. But in this draft, no there really isn't a LT really worthy of the #4 pick. The best LT in the draft is Will Campbell and many believe he will ultimately be moved to LG at the NFL level. Kelvin Banks Jr. is the next and many consider him a mid-first round pick. This draft is devoid of LT talent at the top of the draft.

Disagree with this completely. Campbell and Membou are better prospects than the rest, and will be the first two off the board. And Vrabel just said Campbell would play left tackle, and Membou should have no problem moving to the left because kids do it all the time. Membou’s RAS score placed him in the top 10 of all tackle prospects since 1987, yet some here keep trotting out the tired old saw that because he played right tackle at 20 years old he is a right tackle for life, regardless of how good an athlete he is.

Alive enough to be positive 99.9 % of people that think they know about every NFL draft are full of BS.

Nobody predicted that Mahomes would challenge the GOAT.

If not, I pray he doesn't get suckered into thinking Carter is worth a #4 either. He's not.
In fact, after more study, I'd rather take a beast like Graham - although neither is valued at #4.

We need to trade down to ~ 8-12 and either pick a franchise DL, or OL. That's where I'm landing.

WR's are dime a dozen, and we have 7. There's NO ASSURANCE that any rookie WR will be able to unseat even Polk or Baker in camp, especially in JMD's offense - proven to be a rookie WR killer. Use the extra pick to get TE Mason Taylor. We can take a stab at Noel or Royals in the 2nd.

Luther Burden - Egbuka -Kyle Williams -Jack Bech - Jalen Royals and Dont'e Thornton just to name a few.

To your point, the industry that The Draft has become is ridiculous. Now it's three days, all televised, with the first night being a football Woodstock. Draftstock? Anyway... There's far too many talking heads out there.

If we really want Hunter, Vrabel knows the price to get there which would be with his pals in Cleveland.

Think about this if Cleveland wants Carter he could be there at 4. If once Giants lose out on Hunter their backup plan is Sanders.

So Cleveland could theoretically wind up with Carter, Joe Milton, and a second or third and still get their guy.
