How Would You Feel About Taking Hunter as a WR? (At #4)

Draft Scouts, he’s the best wide receiver , and the best cornerback in the draft, and the top academic athlete in the country.

Certain Patriot fans “ those are some serious red flags.”
Patriots fans here are even worse GMs than Belichick. They are brainwashed to believe Drake Maye can win the division with below average talents at WR like Brady did. “Trenches” they scream, while they will scratch their heads and wonder why taking an average fat gator armed lineman at # 4 overall results in another 5 win season next year.

I’ve always been on the side that he would be a receiver, however earlier this week I was listening to a former GM and his point was a really good CB with a great set of hands is lethal and very scary for offensive coordinators, they would go out of their way to stay away from him, so if you have a really good CB on the other side of him (Gonzalez) then you could have a top pass defense, then let him get ten offensive snaps a game. I thought it was an interesting take

If Will Campbell has a 33" measurement, I think it would be better to take him over Hunter.

For Hunter, it is physically impossible to play both ways in the NFL. I'm sure he works hard to take care of his body, but tackling runners and being tackled by defenders with no rest is going to break him physically, never mind all the film/prep sessions that he does not have time to do each week. I would just take him as a WR and forget about playing him as a CB.

Will Campbell at 4th overall would go down as one of the worst reaches in nfl history

I’d rather he come here and play corner opposite of Gonzo.

If they draft him, I only want him drafted as a WR first and anything he does on defense is gravy. The Pats do not need a CB who can play WR at #4. They have Gonzalez.

I climaxed again.

Who the hell is Matt St Jean.

I feel like I'm the only one who wants to see him actually go all out and try to start at both spots.

I fully understand how difficult this will be mentally and that its probably even more difficult physically but I think you just give it a try and see how things work out.

This simultaneously allows you to evaluate him at both spots and decide which he is better at on your team while also keeping the possibility that both can work. It obviously comes with the risk of stunting his growth at both spots if he gets overwhelmed but I think you have to try.

And while we're at it start using Marcus both ways again too.

They need elite young talent. You fit your plans around him when you just went 4-13.

I am glad the Patriots are able to see reality.

Also, they need a 2nd boundary corner.

If Hunter is truly the #1 prospect at CB, then I'm 100% fine with drafting Hunter to play CB. Our secondary will be awesome!

Ok, get one in the second or third round. You don't spend the 4th overall pick for him or your almost Pro Bowl caliber CB currently on the roster going into his third season in the NFL on the second or third WR every game. It is a waste of draft resources.

I am only ok with this if the Pats are able to trade Ganzalez for a bonanza of picks. We do not need two first round CBs drafted two years apart with the one already on the roster already approaching All Pro level. If they take Hunter as a CB at #4, it is a blown pick.

I was a hard no on this a month ago. But, the more you consider it, it may become one of the best "can't miss" picks in this draft.

Reason - if you start him at WR in minicamp, and even to TC - and he falls behind, or can't do what you need... you have a great chance at having him be your CB2 - potentially being the answer to the pairing across from Gonzo. And could be the best CB duo in the league.

I know we really need Lineman dominance. But, it's a very deep DL draft, and I don't think the top ranked OT's are that much better than the 4th or 5th options. Also, if we do steal Stanley or Jackson as a LT in FA, we're more freed up to take skill in the draft.

IMO, assuming good health, he's at worst a perennial pro bowl player at either position. At best he's a hall of fame player.
I love him more at WR with occasional CB because he can make a bigger impact at WR.
He has a unique talent to find holes in the defense. He's brilliant at it.
If he slides to 4 we should take 1 second to put his name in on the draft card. Do not overthink it..
if he is the pick at #4, then i am putting him at WR AND CB...and while I'm at it, he is returning punts too.
