It's that simple really...

Well.. not that simple, but it will be part of BB's forthcoming game plan I'm sure.

I couldn't believe PIT just let him roll left to his strong side (he's lefty everybody FYI) all game. At least they could of slowed him down with a bit of pocket contain on that side, no?

Anyone know if there's a site to get QB rating based on roll-out direction?

You are so right and I also noticed. All he does is go left, they put his go to receivers to the left as well. There is a danger to going with all these tendencies as the Steelers became aware just too late. First down is not always run. All game, they run on first down.

I honestly think we provided the best bleuprint to stop Teebow the first time. What Bill did with having someone watch him the whole time creating those turnovers when he tried to scramble was good.

Aside from your point, just score early and oftenly and take Broncos out of there comfort zone on offense and thats how its done.

The Pats are already going to be in a two gap 3-4 (I suspect), an alignment which has bothered Tebow since college. The following should be the defensive gameplan:

1. Practice good gap integrity.

2. Limit or shut down McGahee and the Broncos' running game.

3. Set both edges.

4. Limit or shut down Thomas.

Do those four things and our defense should do enough for Brady to win the game. Do none of those things and we're one and done again.

Agreed with all points above.

Then when the time comes to pressure via blitz or disguise a coverage type, we can hedge in toward one half more so than usual. As long as we keep that left side contained/covered, we'll have them at a serious disadvantage IMO.

I disagree. I think we can still have a poor defensive game against them and still pull it out with pure offense, however ugly it may be.

Did BB do this? I am trying to remember. If he did, I think it would be prudent to mix it up a bit and make it look like there is a spy but then dropping him.

Also, Chung and Spikes should give them more of a presence vs the run.

No they did not. I thought they would but they followed Kontra's scheme. At first they couldn't execute on gap control or stopping McGahee and they never really corralled Thomas, but Thomas aside they eventually executed on those items well enough to let Brady roll.

Kontra's scheme prevents silliness like 9 in the box resulting on 80 yds to glory.

Which of the Patriots 14 shutdown cornerbacks is going to shut down Thomas?

That's why Pittsburgh running that cover-1 got them smoked.

Play good zone, keep the windows tight, and Tebow will take care of Thomas himself.

Ok, which one of the Patriots zone DBs is going to keep the windows tight when Thomas is blowing by on a deep route?

hahaha, I get your point.

The key to the game is to win on first and second so you can play cover-2 on the passing downs. Tebow throws some nice quackers and with two safeties in the area they're going to pick a few off. Denver will have a really hard time overcoming a -2 turnover ratio.

Now that I can see, if the safety position has gotten straightened out. One of the reasons that Tebow's struggled as much as he has of late has been the playcalling. He overcame it yesterday, but his O.C. called a running play on every first down but 2 in regulation. If that sort of trend continues next week, New England will be all over that with the Spikes substitutions. That'll put Tebow in 3rd and long time and again, and that's not good for any quarterback, never mind one that's basically a rookie.

I may have come off as snide in the posts about man/zone, and if I did I apologize, but Thomas has been clocked in the 4.3s before and, with being 6'3" 224+, the Patriots don't really have a corner that can stay with him this year now that he's starting to get comfortable in that offense.

Its pretty much a given our secondary will be torched several times.

Didn't come off as snide at all, dude. It's a salient point. If Tebow could generate the kind of velocity required to exploit his advantages I would be very concerned. If Tebow has six deep targets to Thomas I'll be very, very happy.

He needs to be contained and pressure from everywhere-will be a big game for the line and I see Mayo etc...getting in on some rushes on Tim.

control the big play and make him have long, sustained drives where he has to complete out patterns. I saw him complete his first out pattern this year just yesterday, and I've seen him play a number of times this year.

I hear that Wilfork guy is pretty good.

Seriously though, they don't have to shut people down. We'll give up lots of yards, but with the ducks that Tebow throws, as long as we consistantly play decent coverage we should have 3-4 solid opportunities to jump on an underthrown ball and get an INT.

Our safeties are better than the lack of safeties employed yesterday. You give Tebow a zero look, because you can't stop the run. Huh? Oh no they didn't respect the pass. Even in overtime. Brilliant!

Those "ducks" were quality deep passes that Brady would have been thrilled to have made. If Tebow can replicate that, or even come close to replicating it, he'll likely destroy the Patriots secondary, because the Patriots secondary has been awful pretty much all season.

Why is it that people here can't just give credit where it's due with opponents? What's so hard about admitting that Tebow would have beaten the hell out of the Patriots defense last night, just as he beat the hell out of the Steelers defense last night?
