How do you beat Steelers

It'll also be interesting to see who we line up against Hines Ward. I'm curious as to the physicality of McCourty.

on offense maybe, on defense make no doubt the killer instinct is there. They are Very very dangerous on defense.I think Brees out thought them sometimes,, but 20pts isnt much. Like the Jets I saw last year, they really might have the best defense this year.

What was the panthers 4th in the NFL and Brees cut them up 34 -3, Steelers are dangerious on defense. And your offense is better.

Their defense is very good no doubt, but they have a tendency to let off in all phases in the second half.

I actually feel pretty confident heading into this game. I am looking forward to us abandoning the run all together and letting brady throw his way out of his current funk.

Also, why do we make it look so hard to find a good running back? I like woodhead but i will never ever jump on the bjge bandwagon. Whats lamont jordan doing these days?

Id more fault their secondary more than their front 4 or LB's, Brady2 they will punch you in the mouth, deepens if you punch them back. We faced the Jets last year, I don't think there as good this year as the steelers. I mean you will lose guys in this game they are that physical. I would take them as seriously as they should take your offense.

I'm not looking past them, or saying that they're an easy opponent. I personally expect a loss unless the Patriots play a very physical, near mistake free game. I understand that they're a physical team, but they do have a tendency to let their opponents hang around is all I'm saying. The Titans, Saints, Falcons, Bengals, Dolphins were all given more chances in the second half than they were in the first, either by allowing their offense to stall or their defense to get tired and start losing the ferocity and physical nature they start the game with.

the steelers pass rush comes from the outside were the pats have two of the best OT's in the game and great blocking TE's and other then polamalu, the steelers DB's are not much better then the pats

the key to winning is not leting big ben have all day to throw the ball blitz him up the middle and dont let him get out of the pocket, if the pats can do that they will win by 10 points

Thanks for the Saints and Steelers fans for keeping this thread less insane.

No sh*t huh? I cant believe this thread. The OP, and that other twit need to go become Lions fans. Its really bad around here when a chargers fan, saints fan, and a steelers fan make more sense than our own fans......:bricks:

I have always been impressed by the majority of Patriots fans to be good natured and talk some ball, you might underestimate yourself s as much as your team but when lillloyd gets some sleep he might be able to answer some questions, he seems to be football lover.

Most of us are

I've believed all along that this (young) team will learn as the season goes, and by playoff time, they'll be firing on all pistons. I find it funny that everyone thinks the WR corp is so bad. Its much better than what we had in 06, and if that defense holds up in the second half against the colts, we're looking at 4 SBs. This year we have better WRs, and a faster, more athletic D. They just need more experience, and they'll be fine. I hate looking back, but BB, and Tommy have won alot of games with lesser talent. Yep, the team sucked against a decent Browns team, but im still impressed with what some of the youngsters have done so far, and they can only get better.....hopefully

We shopuld be okay, we have to stick with the passing game against them though, they will shut the run down. They are ranked 1st in run defense 24th in pass defense. Thats where we have to target, welker and branch should execute this well.

Hopefully, hernandez and Gronk will play well and get open. We'll def play them harder than we played the Browns. its gonna be a tough game in Pittsburgh too, we have to come mentally ready

simple. don't turn the ball over

I think they can't rely solely on passing but need to balance it.. I know it's tough to run against Pit as they have been stingy with the yards but we do need to try.. The small Woodhead may be the answer as he can squeak his way in and out behind the big bodies and gain 4 - 5 yards.. It will just make it that much easier for Tom with the screens / throws to the tight ends, who will be a big part of any offensive schemes they dial up IMO.

Hit them with a end around to branch I don't think they would expect that play or have him reverse it to Tate the steelers would never fall for it twice or rather a 3rd time.

Beat them trough the air till they air back then start to run some stuff.

Maybe they will gift wrap the game like SD did and make a bunch of blunders.

If not brady needs to be on point since we obvioulsy cannot run on them. We are not all that different of a team as the Saints, they threw alot and waited for Pitt to make mistakes which they did.

I really think it is as simple as you write..............IF BRADY IS ON POINT, we win this going away. Recognize what is coming, be quick and agile while escaping multiple blitzburgh packages and hit the open receivers. Of course, the receivers also have to see what is going on, run their routes and hold onto the freaking ball.

This is quite the thread. But instead of moving it to the Practice Squad, maybe it should stay here as a monument.

That's the trouble with this place lately. Too many monuments to stupidity. All they do is encourage building more. What is with the mod seemingly group aversion to merging and moving? Ian seems OK about it as an attempted means to an end, he just can't get you guys to embrace the program. What this board lacks is the same thing the team is struggling with, consistent focus and execution...

This is going to be funny to look back at on Monday, will probably be buried in the 14-2 and PATS BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE? threads.

Score more points?

I mean, Steelers like all teams have holes too. passing is their weakness as well as that O-line IMO. Like mentioned before, mix it up with some run plays, Have D. Wood take some snaps and see if he can get something sparking. it would awesome to have Taylor back for this game.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but my keys would be:

On Defense

1. Stop their running game (I know this one is obvious.) Stay discipline against Mendenhall because he loves to cut it back and has breakaway speed.
2. Keep Ben in the pocket. He makes all the big plays when he's improvising.

On Offense

1. Take advantage of the Steeler's aggressiveness. Throw screens, run misdirections, draws, etc.
2. Throw it deep. I see Polamalu jumping short routes all the time.
