Hogan out vs. Pittsburgh

I love how fans are already calling today a loss. why even watch the game? I swear some pats fans must curl up in a ball in the dark and rock themselves side to side.

Its not like brady has a history of success against the steelers defense or anything...Or that an inept offensive team in the ravens was able to put up nearly 40 on them...doesnt matter thaat we get our #1 weapon in Gronk back...clearly not 100% hogan was the difference.
Out of 11 wins by Pitt 5 were by 3 or less. Those were to Cleveland Indy FB with hundley Cincy and bmore. They allowed 24.2 Pog to those poor offenses. Trend wise 3 of those were the last 3 weeks.
7 of 11 were by 6 or less

I could understand thinking that Pittsburgh has pulled out some close games and could be tough mate in a close game but the idea that they will win big seems to have nothing to back it up.

Game over. Maybe next year
Really? Maybe your joking... not sure where Hogan became all of a sudden intrical to the Pats success

Time of possession is the game today. Pitt wins that with lots of Bell runs it's going to be a long afternoon/evening. Ben will hand it off and Brady will be forced to chuck the ball every possession. Not feeling it but certainly not because of Hogan LOL. He's mediocre at best.

In hindsight I’d rather have an ineffective guy out there in that game than this one. The question really is why did they leave him in so long. I am glad this week wasn’t the experiment.

In both hindsight and foresight, the smart choice is to give the man who's not ready an extra week, particularly when you've got a game that's just short of meaningless if you win out followed by a game that likely means something significant. Unless Dorsett had an injury nobody but the Patriots knows about, there was no need to gamble with Hogan last week.

And, in real time, the smart choice is the get the player who is injured to the point of being a detriment off the field, instead of having him play 55 snaps.

Odd stack in pittsburgh's favor today. Even if pats lose , i dont think its indicative of how the next round meeting will be.

I don’t think the loser of today’s game makes the AFCCG. That’s how critical today is.

Edit: I think jacksonville is going to upset the 2 seed.

If Pats lose today, that's 2 consecutive "hat and t shirt" game losses, cuz looks like Miami offense laying an egg in buffalo

I am of the belief that ready isn’t black and white there are varying degrees and at some stage you don’t know until you get in the field.

As far as hindsight I’m not talking about the decision but the result. I’m glad hogan being out there and ineffective happened last week instead of this week.
I think if you sit him one more week you get what you saw last week today.

As far as leaving him out there while he was ineffective and not ready to contribute that made no sense.

No. Jacksonville with doug marrone and bortles is not beating the pats .It would be for me like the jets beating the pats at home, that kind of shocker.
Jax just lost to blake bortles.

Jax defense
There have been main highly touted defenses which the pats have routinely out coached in the playoffs. Pittsburgh of 2004 comes to mind instantly.

Losing Hogan sucks and as a Steelers fan it's a relief to not have to see him gashing Pitt's D for huge gains today.

But it changes nothing re/ the Steelers' biggest problem: Gronk, Burkhead, Lewis, and White in the middle of the field against Vince Williams and some awful blend of Arthur Moats/Sean Spence/L.J. Fort.
Cooks will fill the hogan role.

That's only true to an extent. It was clearly not the case with Hogan. Generally speaking, it's pretty easy to see when a player is going to be useless on the field.

An extra week to heal is an extra week to heal, so you're not really making any sense, here. If you're saying that he was more than a week away when they played him against Miami, that just makes the decision to play him even worse.

As far as leaving him out there while he was ineffective and not ready to contribute that made no sense.

One area where this team has shown a propensity for error is in bringing players back too soon, and doing so while giving them a heavier workload that would seem to be appropriate. At this point, we may just have to write it off as being in the team's DNA.

I think it’s case by case. Many times they seem to hold players back longer than necessary. I suppose these decisions not making sense had a lot do with us not knowing much about the extent of the injuries and the rehab process.
