It was only a matter of time that this column would be written. Why? Because the basic premise can be proven in the facts of the season. Nothing he says is untrue, and if he hadn't written the column someone else would have. In fact I'm sure Borges is pissed that this kid beat him to it. I wouldn't be surprised if the convicted plagiarist doesn't write a column that will make the same points.
The fact is that if you use those same mechanics, you can make a case for almost any outcome. Think about all those games that ended with a 7 point or less differential and you could write an article getting pretty much every team in the league into the playoffs using the "if only" theory. The margin of error is very small for EVERY team in the league, not just the Pats
IMHO this edition of the Pats is remarkable. The number of times they have won games that they have had no business winning boggles my imagination. They truly have taken lemons and made lemonade. They have overcome adversity and made her their b!tch
Upon close inspection that the Pats are never going to look good against on paper against any of their future competition. The "names" are just not there. Most of our "names" are either on the IR or dealing with an injury that affects their play. The term "smoke and mirrors" will be used extensively over the next 2 weeks.
However one of the best things about the game of football, more than any other team sport, it is not always the best players who win, but the best TEAM. What makes football so special is that the sum of the group CAN be greater than the individual parts. This team has exemplified this concept over and over during the course of this season. So while during the run up to EVERY potential game we play, its going to look very daunting and even doubtful, I hang my hat on the fact that with this particular Pats team more than any other since 2001, the sum IS greater than the individual parts
