Hilarious reading for the bye week

The author is a 20 year old Redskins fan who looks at yards as the definitive defensive stat and thinks the Saints are poised for a Super Bowl run because he ignores their home/away issues.

Lol. Nope. With those comebacks, if games were 59 minutes long, Pats would rally and win it in 58. If games were 30 minutes, they'd win in 29. If games were just 10 minutes, they'd win in 9. When everything's on the line, this team does not quit.

As someone commented that if the game was 59 mins pats wouldve gone 19-0

The bleacher report is significantly less insightful than youtube comments.

There are actually some decent writers on that site (FWIW, Field Yates came to ESPNBoston.com's attention after writing there for a few months).

Supposedly they have higher standards now, but I will admit there is still a lot of stupid stuff there.

You mean like where the name Justin Houston gets converted to a link to a Houston Texans page? Yeah.

Heck if we can make arbitrary rules to support what we want, then here's my suggestion:
Let's make the week 8 days long and have 5 work days and 3 weekend days?

Maybe this is why BB always preaches for the players to play the full 60 minutes?

It's easy to laugh it off and mock the author but the reality is the Patriots have very little margin for error and if they don't bring their A game on both sides of the ball they're not winning because they don't have dominance on either side of the ball.
This is not one of the better Patriot teams we've seen in the last 10 years and them losing their 1st playoff game would not shock me and it should not shock you if it were to happen.
Both KC and Cincinnati are capable of coming into Foxborough and winning. Don't think Indy can even though they have the best QB of the 3 because I don't think Indy has a defense that can win on the road.
If Joe Flacco and Mark Sanchez can win playoff games in Foxborough I certainly think Alex Smith and Andy Dalton can also.

I agree completely. In the Patriots favor, they are mentally as tough and disciplined as any team in the playoffs. They are consistent and avoid the breakdowns that plague other teams. They have Tom Brady. But they are banged up, are still evolving their offense, and their defense at times struggles against both the run and the pass. This team is far from dominant and can lose (or win) against anyone. This makes them a great team to be a fan off. :singing:

The article was basically a hatchet job; no attempt at balance. That being said, the odds are against the Patriots reaching the Super Bowl. Then again, with the parity we've seen, the odds are against any team from reaching the Super Bowl. This would be close to a 2001 playoff run should it come through - winning through coaching, grittiness, determination and players stepping up. It sure would be fun as a fan to see it happen.

My suggestion is he needs to focus on his lifetsyle first and foremost.

I dont think premise is bad , but the points made toward such a outcome by the author are what I think are laughable.

It was only a matter of time that this column would be written. Why? Because the basic premise can be proven in the facts of the season. Nothing he says is untrue, and if he hadn't written the column someone else would have. In fact I'm sure Borges is pissed that this kid beat him to it. I wouldn't be surprised if the convicted plagiarist doesn't write a column that will make the same points.

The fact is that if you use those same mechanics, you can make a case for almost any outcome. Think about all those games that ended with a 7 point or less differential and you could write an article getting pretty much every team in the league into the playoffs using the "if only" theory. The margin of error is very small for EVERY team in the league, not just the Pats

IMHO this edition of the Pats is remarkable. The number of times they have won games that they have had no business winning boggles my imagination. They truly have taken lemons and made lemonade. They have overcome adversity and made her their b!tch

Upon close inspection that the Pats are never going to look good against on paper against any of their future competition. The "names" are just not there. Most of our "names" are either on the IR or dealing with an injury that affects their play. The term "smoke and mirrors" will be used extensively over the next 2 weeks.

However one of the best things about the game of football, more than any other team sport, it is not always the best players who win, but the best TEAM. What makes football so special is that the sum of the group CAN be greater than the individual parts. This team has exemplified this concept over and over during the course of this season. So while during the run up to EVERY potential game we play, its going to look very daunting and even doubtful, I hang my hat on the fact that with this particular Pats team more than any other since 2001, the sum IS greater than the individual parts

I've been waiting a while for NEMs next article.

This writer lol. If my deer season was 10 days and not 11, I wouldn't have gotten some venison for the freezer. That is why you do whatever you are doing for the whole time, especially in sports.

Right? I mean, how many baseball games would the Red Sox have lost this past season if the games were only 8 innings long?

Having an evolving offense might not be a bad thing. How do you prepare for them now? Load up against the run and take your chances on play action? Wouldn't be surprised if we dust off some old plays from the past too to get a few bonus scores.

I also expect some wrinkles on D such as dialling up more blitzes in key situations. Looking forward to it, this team is playing with house money from this point on, like it better than the usual situation of sky-high expectations.

I think dillon ames is still in HS.

This team is more resourceful and mentally tougher than any in recent memory. Dillon Ames can't measure that.
