Hightower out for the year with a torn pec

Gutted to say the least. Hope it's nothing to serious and he can be back for when it matters. The guy has been such a vocal point of this D again this year and we are easily a lot better when he's there.

Linebackers in the draft this year is deep. I'd be surprised if we didn't draft another HT.

Its deep in undersized LBs. Hard to see another High there.. Maybe among edge guys (like w High) f.e. Porter Gustin.. also some others but change of position takes time and much depends on IQ

Bad news, huge loss. Just when D started to gel after High took command from LB position. Seems like Howe's “a bit longer“ would be a blessing compared to other possible scenarios:

Still, the severity is unclear, he didn't look bothered sitting on the sideline, so hopefully he can come back..

According to the NFL the average career for an NFL Player is about 6 years, the NFLPA says it is 3.3.. either way Hightower is in his 6th season.. longevity is not a characteristic for most NFL players..

Time for David Harris to step up...

Id prefer Harris to step in for High at green dot and takes MLB (1-2 downs) and KVN plays like last 2 games w some more of on-line OLB in stead of High.

With Gilmore back (and JJ's good showings) Chung can return more in the box again (after taking plenty of slot snaps last Sunday).

I shall do some more scouting and breakdowns of players and see if any fit. But yes that's the problem this year there's not many HT builds. Sure il find someone hopefully..

Pick up Akeem Ayers already.

Not totally accurate.

Gronk has played in 79% of regular season games. 94 of 119
High has played in 83%. 72 of 87
You should know better than to screw around with prevailing narrative RW.

BTW- Anyone know if this is the same shoulder he had fixed this off season

I agree with this. I think KVN really shone in the last game when he was closer to the line and had force responsibility. That seems to be his sweet spot.

I really hate twitter doctors who speculate, especially her.

Not saying that it isn't a pec tear but I recall when Mayo tore his twice they knew immediately and both times Mayo wasn't sitting on the bench after it happened looking like nothing was bothering him.

Just saying a pec tear is something that seems to be diagnosed almost immediately and Pats aren't a team that isn't forthcoming about injuries like that. Hell I recall the first time Mayo tore his he was in surgery that Wednesday.

Also there are different variety of pec injuries. I mean how does she know it's not just a grade 2 pec strain? A grade 2 is a some torn fibers but it's generally one that is rehabbed and the recovery is a matter of weeks.

On the play in SBXLIX when he stopped Lynch and a really impressive tackle he made a couple weeks ago, you can see how he's somehow able to wrap them up with just one arm of initial contact, the strength is truly immense. Pure speculation but that has to take a toll as his body is exposed to tremendous force.

As others have said, hopefully his ease on the sideline after the injury speaks to the severity, would hate to see him exit for the season just as the defense is starting to click.

Useless to hate. Its their job. Their “educated speculations“ are the closest thing fans that are interested - esp. Pats fans - can get. Its not like you're getting Pats medical report anytime soon. She's moderate and informative in her takes most of the time. And close on the money most of the times as well.

She clearly adds “severity unknown“. As in your case the image of High on the sidelines gives me some optimism but this is a huge thing to monitor..

Wasn't saying it wasn't injured. I just said if it was a complete tear like the twitter doctor was saying that they likely would have known that it was by now. My point was how does she know it isn't the grade 2 strain variety of pec injury.

Just heard on 98.5. Ian Rappaport reported.

I just heard on the radio that Hightower is indeed out for the year.
