If he told an editor the complete truth about what he had, he shouldn't get fired. It's not the reporter's job to decide whether he has enough to run the story, nor is it his job to make sure the copy is accurate with respect to what it's reporting.
I understand it's fun to bash on Tomasse here, because he's such an as*. If he lied or shaded things to his editor, then he deserves it. More likely, the true culprit here is someone else.
Patriots fans, let the Herald know that we are unhappy about their sensationalistic rumor mongering, spearheaded by tomase' article! They pay attention to the numbers in their inbox even if they don't read all the emails. Tomase needs to be run out of town. We finally got rid of Borges, let's also get rid of another dishonest parastitic journalist!
Yeah wearing a Mumu and a fake beard.ya fatmasse, reported every move on the walsh talks with the nfl, where is he now?? sitting at dunkin donuts nervously eating a dozen bavarion cremes
Interesting. I got a feeling something big is going down with Tomase and the Herald soon. Perhaps a demotion to high school sports which is far more than he deserves. But honestly,if the Krafts or coaches want this guy gone, all they have to do is snap their fingers and Herald security would be speedily throwing him head first out the front door to protect their asses.
Herald has to do one thing which is to FIRE Tomase because of what he did. Are they waiting for the approval of Goodell or Specter.?
It is the right thing to do because it protects the integrity of the newspaper and makes sure that any writer needs to check his/her source before publishing the article.
IMO the herald has only one thing they can do. They stand by their source and say it wasn't walsh....we wont reveal who it was as no journalist would willingly give up a source.
If they fire Tommasse they admit they were wrong and actually open themselves up more.

I checked out Tomase's blog to see what he would have to say about today's goings on in NY.
After nothing being posted all afternoon, Tomase posted a short an hour or so ago that briefly outlined the basics. Nothing big, just a few paragraphs.
I just checked back a minute ago to see if they would post the Patriot's statement, which obviously was directed at the Herald. Not only was there no mention of the statement, but Tomase's last post was removed so the last post showing was the article from the other day about Randy Moss' golf tournament.
Something strange is happening there...
Statement from Patriots
Posted by Karen Guregian at 3:58 pm
The Patriots issued the following statement in wake of the events transpring in New York with respect to Matt Walsh’s meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell:
“We want to address the allegation that the Patriots taped the Rams’ walkthrough prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. For the past three-and-a-half months, we have been defending ourselves against assumptions made based on an unsubstantiated report rather than on facts or evidence. Despite our adamant denials, the report ran on February 2, 2008, the day before Super Bowl XLII. That game was the second-most watched program in television history and it is unfortunate that today’s news will not also reach an audience of that size. We hope that with Matt Walsh’s disclosures, everyone will finally believe what we have been saying all along and emphatically stated on the day of the initial report: ‘The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams’ walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue.’”
