Haynesworth & Ellis @ Practice

Our run D is going to dominate this year under any "scheme", and you can't stand it. Why?

Tampas RB's garnered 25 yards on 11 carries. Are you a fan or just a Felger contrarian?

Our D's gonna rock this year. I'm going on factual, empirical evidence. We've only had a taste of what our front 7 can really do.

We've outscored the opposition by 52 points in 2 games after finishing 14-2 last year. Our "reasonable expectations" should be a Division Title and a trip to the SB. If you don't like it then ....you know.

Maybe a reason why some people like AJ and others are sceptic about Haynesworth are plays like this from the $100M man

Albert Haynesworth --- Lay Lady, Lay - YouTube

While the same excitement about Carter can be seen on this same video and how he does not stop his pursuit to the QB until the ball is out of the QBs grasp.

Andre looked last week exactly as he did in this video....Will Haynesworth lay down and count the blades of grass in NE as he did in that video?

Time will tell....

Lets just cancel the season and award the Lombardi then

So we have no hope of adding another Lombardi to Patriots Place? I've been there on numerous occasions and enjoy it. Excuse me for being a fan.

Dude, you asked a question that you are as capable of researching as anyone else, some people tried to help you and gave you every available information which appears to indicate he didn't line up at any position, and you are acting like a dlck toward the people who tried to give you an answer.
You should be concerned with how you come off, because it won't be long before you asking other people to do you a favor gets ignored.

I'm not asking anyone to research anything. I'm asking if anyone was at practice and saw anything. If you werent, it's fine, no need to respond.

The Pats are favored to get to the SB and you should be excited about the season but if you are going solely by the play last week in a preseason game then you will likely be disappointed that it won't look as easy down the road and the defense, while it should be vastly improved, will not duplicate the 85 Bears.

There will be better tackles than Donald Penn for Carter to handle as the season moves along.

Getting excited for the season is fine....judging the defense by one good preseason showing is foolish.

So who nominated you and a couple others on here "sheriffs of pointing out stuff we think is foolish"?

How do you know it won't be as good as the 85 bears....what facts do you have to provide concrete support of this?

Have you ever been to the Hall at Patriots Place and watched the movie narrated by James Earl Jones? It'll send chills up your spine (provided you have one). One play is just an erroneous abberation of an entire career. I'm not going to bother with vid's of his crushing hits because your response will probably be his head-stomping incident or something of the like which does'nt include any plays from his Defensive MVP season.

Hate on our guys all you want, but I'm rooting for them. I don't think you and AJ are fans of any other team, your just Anti-Patriot fans who revel in rooting against them and us. To that I say-TO HELL WITH YOU!!!!

I hope we win a Lombardi and you hate it every step of the way.

I'm a homer. Deal with it.

How does me saying we should at least see the guy on the field and not overreact to practice games equal we have no hope to you?
Being a fan doesnt mean acting like you are Rex Ryan and trying to tell the world how great your team is because you say so.

You are joking right?
I am an AntiPatriot fan who revels in rooting against the Patriots. Did you just show up today, or are you actually Drew Barrymore from 50 First Dates?

OK, I'll chalk that up to arrogantly ignoring a little friendly advice and move on.

You're the the anti-Patriot guy who's more in tune with Rex, not me.

If AJ being "Anti-Patriot" is what you're taking away from this board, your reading comprehension skills are woefully inadequate. AJ and I don't get along, and one of the reasons for that is because he's such an over-the-top homer and I'm more of a skeptical fan than he. The notion that he's somehow Anti-Patriot is ridiculous.

Tell me again....... why, as fans, do we have to temper our excitement again? I forgot.

I get the players, coaches and actual people who can have an impact. I don't get why we can't be excited. Hell, even fans of the Bills think that this year might be the year. We're supposed to think our team is gonna be the best.

HOPE SPRINGS IMMORTAL MY FRIEND. Sit back, enjoy the ride.

p.s. I coulda swore I saw Donald Penn at the pro bowl???? I think your supposed to be pretty good to get invited to that game, no?

I think its fine to be optimistic, but I don't know how you can have a realistic discussion if the expectations are that everyone is going to be the best they have ever been.
I mean Haynesworth has a reputation of only playing hard in a contract year. He truly did quit on his team last year. He truly was an awful player last year when he was on the field. I can understand some optimism that maybe because he is in the right place he will give a decent effort (I dont think anyone even Albert would suggest he will be a high motor guy, in fact I think he laughed at the suggestion) and be better than he was in Washington. That is reasonable. To call him an unstoppable force that can do what he wants at will, that teams will use their entire OL to block 2 guys so we have an unblocked defense or things like that are just silly. Sure you can say them, but how can we have a serious discussion?

Thursday night Gerard Warren made one tackle. It was for a loss as he shot through a gap and hit the RB in the backfield. One other time he was seen getting through the line and he haplessly tried to get close to the QB. That is the extent of his highlights. Today he is being called 'reborn' 'a lock' 'excited about the new system' and stuff like that when last week he wasn't supposed to make the team. How can we have a reasonable discussion if there is that kind of overreaction to a guy who wasn't real good last year making one play?

Be optimistic, but don't be blind.

I think one of the issues some folks have is there's some posters on here that try to muzzle or curb others enthusiasm.

These posts are extensions of peoples personality. Some folks are exciteable, some are realists, some are over the top positive and some are eternal cynics.

In my mind, you cross the line when you say, you shouldn't be such a homer or you shouldn't judge the future based upon one game.

Why Not! Its a fan board. You can challenge anyone you want if they throw out stats or facts that are far from...but to try to shut someone down because they're too excited in your mind or too unrealistic in their prognostications is an ugly thing.

In my opinion....there is a little bit of a bias that comes from some folks who think this is "their board" due to their tenure on here. The Pats success has increased the boards population and these newer posters who may be huge fans, who aren't as engaged or as knowledgeable about the team or football are treated with a bit of disdain.

My main point here in this thread is....

While we SHOULD all be excited about the season and the team and the potential of them we have reason to think the team will be very good,HOWEVERthere is always common OVERREACTION from a near MEANINGLESS preseason game.

If the team had been on the other side of the scoreboard and lost 31-14, I would have looked at this team NO differently.

Ask Lions fans in 2008 of how they felt about their undefeated and awesome looking roster heading into week 1

This is the second time this summer I have agreed 100% with Andy.

The world is about to end......

If you think he's an "over-the-top" homer you're comprehension skills are also sorely lacking. The two of you are in fact the biggest detractors on this site. While I don't mind an objective point of veiw, you 2 would qualify as the most contrarian.

I enjoy differentianing points of veiw, but don't portray yourself as a fan. You and he are nothing more than antagonistic agitators with a hidden agenda which consists of trying to intimidate genuine fans in a disingenious fashion in an attempt to convey yourself as an astoudious abritrator of facts. It's nothing more than a fraudelent attempt to elevate your standing amongst strangers who may take your bullzhit seriously.

I do not.

I disagree. I am one of the most optimistic posters on this board. I like to point out that my optimism has been tied to BB arriving, and since we have been easily the best franchise in the NFL during that time if I am the most optimistic I would also be the most correct.
But optimistic and out of touch with reality are 2 different things.
We know Haynesworths track record. There is a better chance he goes off the reszervation or isn't even in game shape as there is he is the greatest player in the league. The last time he was on a football field, he played like crap.
Its nice to see the team look good in preseason, but to pretend it will tell us anything about the regular season is ignoring history and reality.
Yes it is a good thing that the defense looked good vs Tampa. But getting carried away makes us look silly.
Rex Ryan has already guaranteed a SB win, so what are we doing, chasing his idiocy?
