Harmon Visits Costa Rica...

Not for chronic pain or ache, which is likely what he and other players deal with in the offseason.

Sure they do. These guys are all hooked on narcotic painkillers. NFL doctors give it out like candy.

Not sure what Florida could prosecute Harmon for.

mgteich said it's up the Fla authorities now. I assume the Costa Rican authorities confiscated it. So he didn't have it when he returned to Fla. But since they returned him to Fla it sounds like he departed the U.S. from Fla. So --he got on a plane in Fla. Landed in Costa Rica with 2 ozs of weed. Unless he's gonna say "he found it on the plane" it sounds like a pretty easy possession charge for a Fla prosector to make.

Plus, even if it's totally legal in two adjoining states to possess (e.g. Washington and Oregon). It's very illegal (federally) to cross a state border with cannabis. Even a common border between two legal states. I have no idea if the feds treat leaving the U.S. border entirely the same as crossing a state border to another state.

Florida isn't going to prosecute a guy for 2 ounces of weed based on a statement from Costa Rican authorities and without any physical evidence, that would get laughed out of court and Harmon can hire much better representation than whatever prosecutor in Florida he would face. And the federal government isn't going to seek trafficking charges for 2 ounces of weed. Believe it or not, the DEA's office of general counsel does not have unlimited time or resources.

He's not going to face any consequences other than a possible one game suspension by the NFL (though even that's like 50/50 at best) and missing out on his vacation in Costa Rica.

He finished 3rd place in voting for NFL defensive player of the year at 26 years old. That doesn't constitute a 1st round pick?

To you, obviously. To other teams around the league, evidently not so much.

So, Florida authorities have no direct physical evidence that Harmon was in possession of the aforementioned two ounces of weed while in the State of Florida?

Just because a player is worth something doesn't mean you can get that for them, the free market determines what a player is worth.

Back in 2008 Patriot fans thought Matt Cassel was going to net us multiple #1's... just like Jimmy we got a 2nd, and we had to throw Vrabel in to sweeten the deal.

Jimmy is priceless, Chandler Jones lead the NFL in sacks so is priceless, Jamie Collins is worth more then a 3rd... the conditions for a blockbuster trade have to exist, you need a rube. Jimmy's agent told Cleveland he didn't want to play there, there was no better deal.

Chandler Jones showed up at the police station high on bath salts in his underwear during the playoffs... there was no better deal.

1 - do these guys really think things happen like in a Simpsons episode where they travel to a 3rd world country and there's jungle everywhere, people naked, tigers and monkeys in the streets and NO LAW?

2 - He does have kids right? I'm assuming that was a tourism trip so he was with the whole crew together, that's just terrible judgement in exposing them to that and worse, risking some sort of weird local sanction like jail time for everyone while waiting prosecution.

3 - Brady does have a house in Costa Rica right? I'm sure he's running some sort of Cartel over there, call Ted Wells.

the perfect offseason

Why do people think Harmon would be cut? Had plenty of guys get suspended before (Bolden, Spikes, Chandler Jones, Faulk, Rodney).
He shouldn't be cut. He remains a valuable piece defensively and as a captain.

Sheesh, thought he was smarter than that

If it’s a little weed, shouldn’t be a big deal, but bringing it though international customs is just a bonehead move.

I have no clue why so many PRO sports figures making 7-plus digit salaries a year are so moronic as to do these types of illegal acts (guns, drugs, domestic violence, ETC..).

They should get the full penalty of the law and PRO teams should set a higher standards to punish these players.

OMG! Wait, are you seriously putting 2 0z. of pot in the same category as guns, and domestic violence? I'm sure Ted Williams will give you a "like". BB should punish these pro players, and lets not forget his son who was busted with pot and is now an assistant coach. Yes, Harmon is an idiot and evidently he knew that the country took pot seriously as he tried to disguise it. Maybe, he should vacation somewhere else next season.

Lol Bill isn’t cutting him because of a weed suspension.

Yeah, he's definitely getting suspended, but the idea that he's getting cut over weed possession seems a little nuts.

Why the F... would anyone bring M to Costa Rica?? There is mucho dope in Central America..

Is Costa Rican security better than Ft. Lauderdale security?? "Fiscal Control Police" better than TSA???

Then there is the Ty Law defense, his cousin did it..

To be fair, they probably are. Literally anything is better and more effective than the TSA.

You can bring a vape pen on a plane but not in checked bags. Obviously, you can't vape on a plane.
I’m talking about a vape pen that has weed oil in it, like Harmon reportedly had. Obviously, you can bring regular nicotine vape pens with you.

58 grams is more than a "little" weed. In many states in the U.S. it's a felony because they assume that much is not for personal use. I don't know the details of the possible penalties for that much cannabis (plus paraphrenalia) in Costa Rica. But in much of the world it's a hell of a lot worse than in the U.S. He should have found it locally if it's for personal use. Or do without for the duration he's out of the country. He's lucky to be back in the U.S.

IMO, if it's found to be true, Harmon should be cut. Not for indulging in attitude adjustment. But for stupidity.
In the state of Ohio alone, you can have more than twice that amount and still have it as small amount/possession.

In the state where I live in PA, it’s only 28 grams, but still, no one does jail time over 2 oz of pot. I’m sticking by my statement that it’s nothing more than a little bit of weed. They see it all day, every day.

As a practical matter, TSA has no idea what kind of oil is in your vape pen cartridge and won't bother checking.

Bringing a coffee can full of weed on a plane is just plain f*cking stupid and just asking for trouble.
