Guregian: Brady "had hand" in getting McDaniels back to NE

If BB is upset about McDaniels being back I bet it is because of McDaniels being HC-in-waiting. Not because he begrudges McDaniels getting the job ultimately but because it sets the stage for bigger/worse conflicts. What happens if BB and McD have a fundamental disagreement about some transaction? Especially if McD really is there because of Brady/Kraft interference? BB might see this being/leading to a constraint on his freedom of action.

Yup, if they can't communicate and set boundaries etc within the organization not just over hurt feelings but over the day-to-day real issues and protocols, then they deserve to have it all melt away.

That's what should happen. But will it? Maybe that's exactly the thing BB is worried/irritated about -- that his authority has been reduced. Especially if it is true that McDaniels is there because of some alleged Brady machinations/complaining to Kraft.

I think Josh just realized that him taking the Colts job would've been the worst mistake in his NFL career. Kraft offering more money was icing on the cake.

However, when BB and Brady are gone, this team will see some dark days ahead. I wouldn't have thought that had Jimmy G stayed.

This is wholly unfounded speculation by the media.

For one thing, I'm pretty sure BB's authority, and the extent of such, is clearly defined in his contract with this franchise, and so it's hard to imagine it being infringed upon for the duration of the contract, by petty behind the back maneuvering, by either Kraft or Brady, or both. That would be a breach of contract.

Another thing: BB has always devoted most of his gametime on the defense. He almost never is seen with the offense. I would not be surprised if someday, the truth came out that it was BB, himself, that really wanted McD to stay so that he wouldn't end up being stretched too thin.

Especially considering he now has a rookie DC to keep a close eye on.

He didn’t want to lose both coordinators in one offseason.

While somewhat unremarkable, he also protects the football like nobody’s business, having only thrown 2 INTs all of last season, one of which came on an end of half Hail Mary.

I don’t know if this will help his cause or not, but it could be something that he’s able to build on. I think we can get him through to the PS, so maybe he’s able to learn the system and he can hold the backup role in 2019.
