According to twitter reports. Also Stankewitch, Kanorris Davis and Mark Harrison to non-football injury list.

I suspected Ballard and Edelman wouldn't be ready but not Armstead.

Just wonderful, only "good" news from the Pats lately.

Hey, no Boyce!
EDIT: As in, not on the PUP.

Hopefully at least 2/3 of Gronk, Edelman, and Ballard can end up playing by the end of the preseason. All could be key components of our offensive success, so avoiding in-season PUP would be nice.

It'd be great if N.McDonald was able to heal quickly, in terms of his versatility and knowledge on the offensive line.

Looks like Armstead's bust in Canton will have to wait. I'm sure we'll find out more details soon.

I may be in the minority here, but I wouldn't be shocked if Ballard doesn't make the 53 man roster. The reports of his thoroughly unimpressive minicamp and OTA leave a lot to be desired.

He'll definitely make the roster or at least stay on in some form through IR, but I doubt it'll come down to anything that dramatic. He's too good of a potential player to just outright cut or release. He should be good to go hopefully, although we'll be concerned until we see him fully back to speed.

The reports about his unimpressive minicamp etc are somewhat vague and mixed. We have to remember that he hasn't played or practiced in quite some time, along with the fact that he really isn't all that blazingly fast to begin with, so that may have skewed the reports a bit from those who aren't familiar with him--as has been pointed out to me in another thread.

Hopefully his presence on the PUP right now is just about taking it slowly in terms of his knee. If it's another injury that may be a different story, but I'm guessing it's just Belichick playing it cautiously.

Ouch first no Boyce, now no Edelman, no Armstead, and Ballard is limping around like the walking wounded. Not hitting panic button yet but eyeing it. LOL

What next, Dowling going down for the count before camp is over? Please let it not be so! *knocks on wood*

Gronkowski, Three Others Placed on PUP List

Gronkowski, Three Others Placed on PUP List
By: Derek Havens

The New England Patriots officially placed tight end Rob Gronkowski on the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.

Gronkowski, was placed on PUP along with wide receiver Julian Edelman, offensive lineman Nick McDonald and tight end Jake Ballard.

On top of the four players listed on PUP, the team also listed four more on the Non-Football Injury list: wide receiver Mark Harrison, defensive lineman Armond Armstead, offensive lineman Matt Stankiewitch and defensive back Kannoris Davis.

In all fairness to Ballard--the reports have been mixed so far, and the negative ones may be slightly biased considering the fact that he hasn't practiced or played in a long, long time. On top of that he isn't exactly known for his speed either, so until the local mediots are familiar with him and his style they may have provided a somewhat biased report from last month.

We won't really know the whole deal for another week or two, but the fact that he was taking part in something last month leads me to believe that he's going to come back sooner rather than later. Even if he actually starts the year on PUP, it'll be good to have him here when the season heats up.

In the meantime, I can appreciate your concern and I share it too on a lessened level regarding the TE health. I think we'll feel better when we hear some good news re: Gronkowski.

That's a good point, Joker. Most of these names we were expecting, so it's more than likely just Belichick playing it safe and handling their injuries properly.

No reason to push a recovering player to the brink in the hot sun of training camp, at least not yet.

Another aspect that we'll have to get used to is seeing names on the injury report, so we may as well dive in head first right off the bat. Hopefully there is adequate depth there this year.

I think Boyce is not on the PUP. He's ready or so it seems.

Just means more reps for my man Sudfeld.

Love to see a 3-TE set around Dec w/ Gronk, Ballard and (a by then experienced) Sudfeld.

Edel-dude being on PUP too is 'EXPECTED'; but still makes you feel like 'geeeezzz can the hits stop coming'. But again gives chances for some rookies to build repoire w/ TB and become the alternative - so gotta look at glass half full.

dont want to minimize the mcdonald listing either, but 'in Scar we trust' kinda covers that issue.

Just a technical note here.......

IIRC, those players on the PUP list at the start of Training Camp may come off the list at anytime prior to the last pre-season game. If they do, they are eligible to start on week 1 of the regular season. If they don't come off the list, then they have to remain on it through week 6.

So, I'm not panicking at all right now. Let's see how it all plays out first.

Hmmm.... I'd been eyeballing Armstead as a major part of the DL puzzle, even giving him a mental uptick when Deaderick and Love got the boot.

Either this is a minor issue or I have no idea what the hell is going on with the defensive line this year.

Ballard is surprising.

He was injured in February 2012.

I agree with your sentiments - i thought he was a piece of the puzzle...but

Another thought on him would be that he is a 'shadow roster candidate';

BB is going to hold him on PUP for 6 weeks til Ninko or somebody else goes down onto IR and then bring Armstead back onto roster. If so, this would be somewhat disappointing to me as I thought coming out of CFL as a success meant he was NFL-ready. not that BB would need to hold him back till he learns a playbook or something.

So I actually hope it is a true injury issue that just needs to work itself out. That would be much less disappointing to me than my possible alternative theory.

Relax Boys.....better these issues now than December.

There is a very long way to go.....

That's what I was thinking.
Maybe Edelman is like fine china - you put it away until you really need it for fear of damage.

Yeah, poked my head in here this morning and got hit on the noggin' by pieces of falling sky.
