So you believe Gilmore should've been traded when his value was highest?
You're assuming that there was a actual TRADE OFFER on draft day for him..To Carolina for a 6th round pick. That's the most we could get? Might as well have traded him on draft day for a 2nd rounder instead if BB was not willing to open up the checkbook to PAY the man.
So according to the article, we announced we're letting him go, then Carolina basically said wait wait wait we'll give you a 6th in 2023... in other words, we'll give you one thing more than zero LOL... I mean, it doesn't get much lower. To Carolina for a 6th round pick. That's the most we could get? Many fans tend to think that the majority of NFL franchises (ownership and coaching staffs) can turn on and off competitiveness without any repercussions. That they can simply make the decision "oh we'll tank and lose 14+ games" after say losing two games to start a season without any impact on current and future gate draw, merchandise, media attention, ability to attract and keep talent, and myriad other factors - that it's a lead pipe cinch that losing strategy will equal future winning. It's the same reasons as this year except he was injured.
BB wanted to win games. He had Newton. He knew his offense was going to be sucky. He needed a decent defense. Gilly was making a ton of money. Cap was down. Trade offers sucked. At the end of the Bill decided to keep the reigning DPOY.
Is that really a horrible decision?
Just a 6th in 2023 from what we know right now.So according to the article, we announced we're letting him go, then Carolina basically said wait wait wait we'll give you a 6th in 2023... in other words, we'll give you one thing more than zero LOL... I mean, it doesn't get much lower.
That offer was saying, hey if you're just GIVING him away, we'll trade for him. I wonder if they sweetened it as regards our dead money for him? Anybody know?
BB has always said that real football always starts after Thanksgiving. By that time you know what kind of team you have and how the season is going to turn out (assuming the team is not a lost cause before then).
Of those 5 teams, only Green Bay and Seattle would have had the cap space. So that killed 3 options, right off the bat.How did other teams not get in play and let him slip for a measly 6th round pick? That’s the real disaster in all of this.

These fans should be horrified.

What makes you think Steve Belichick is a moron? I have no strong opinion about the guy because I know so little about him. Do you know him personally?
Yeah that was a bad look. Were you not watching the game between plays, when TB was on offense?
Magic eight ball says "Ask again later".So since Judon will become a free agent in three years should we be trading him this year?
So I am serious, not poking holes or anything, but does it often happen that a guy recovering from an injury and not close to recovered brings a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick?Worst is that this 6th rounder is for 2023 draft!!!
BillB blew it. Should have traded him before the draft (2nd, 3rd, or 4th pick) this past April, and immediate negotiate with JC Jackson for a long term deal.
NOW, Patriots may lose both (one gone, one to go).
Sigh.
GB had absolutely no excuse as this is their last chance at a title which could be for a long time.Of those 5 teams, only Green Bay and Seattle would have had the cap space. So that killed 3 options, right off the bat.
