Gilmore traded to Carolina

Not so sure he'd have a choice.
He won’t. But what I meant was let’s say he gets $10M and the board asks why didn’t Bill pay him that? Because his price was higher than that to play in NE. I think he either wanted more money or leave.

Not only that but with all the FA we signed, don't they work against any comp picks we would get? I doubt Pats get any comp picks.
The free agents the Pats signed this year will affect their comp picks for the 2022 draft, not the 2023 draft that we're talking about here. Again, keeping Gilly and watching him sign with a another team in the Spring of 2022 affects the 2023 draft.

Speaking of the 2022 draft, because of the number of free agents signed this past offseason and the money spent, the Patriots are very unlikely to get any comp picks next year, even with Thuney's huge contract. The only way that changes is if some of these FA signings (Jonnu Smith maybe?) fail to get significant playing time this season, which could cause them to fall off the list of signings that count toward the comp calculation. Unlikely, but there is a possibility.

Conflicting info:

Look for teams to get serious and trade for Gilmore.

Nah, it’s just because you don’t have anything else in the holster. Didn’t you say you were retired? And you still spend the better part of 7 days a week on here? WTF does your wife… sorry… your second wife… do while you’re on here? You think she’s looking for someone else? Or is her coochie like sandpaper these days?

These must be the things that some over-roided midget with a napoleon complex needs to come up with to feel ‘taller’ …. But yeah, you’ve been outed as a miserable puke by more than you know……wanna see?

I guess JJones isn't good either since he led the Patriots in tackles.
We would have to look at whether he made those tackles in run support or after allowing his man to make catches.
For example Jones allowed 7 catches on 12 targets for 66 yards. With 49 air yards and 17 rac . So he was picked on but did decent in coverage and he had 9 total tackles so not a lot in run support.
Sherman was 9/9/102 with 72 air yards and 30 rac. He totaled 7 tackles.
So Sherman was targeted 9 times and every single one was completed and he only made 7 tackles so it would seem he wasn’t making them in run support.

So who do you think played better.

Getting picked on and allowing a 100% completion % and making tackles on 77% of the plays you were burned on is not a good game. Not getting targeted and not making a tackle because your guy didn’t catch a pass is a good game.

But you knew that and can’t resist digging yourself deeper in the hole you created.

If this was a negotiating ploy that works out then it's really impressive.

If they announced this morning that they traded Gillmore for a 6th round pick I wouldn't have been happy with the return. After hearing that they would waive him an not get compensation I feel a lot better about a return of a late round pick.

Yeah, let’s see it. Because you’re swinging at pure air here.

That could be it, too. But he is a solid tackler, which one shouldn’t take for granted when considering the Bucs other CB options were practice squaders. I think Sherman allowed 7/7 for around 75 yards. Again, not good by any stretch, but he kept the play in front of him.
9/9/102 not a good game by a corner by any definition.

Didn’t GBs Alexander get hurt their star corner? Makes sense if so SG to GB.

But for what?

Praying for Michael Gallup or Brandin Cooks in the next few weeks after this move.

Who are the two Pats CB's moving forward.

JC Jackson & Jones?

If the Pats were really down to $54,000 under the CAP and had to pay Gilmore $400,000/week while keeping him, I guess it was him or someone else getting axed.
