Stephon Gilmore signs with the Vikes... 1 year deal, up to 10M, incentive laden deal...

was hoping he'd come back to New England... guess not... He's chasing dollars at this point, and I don't really blame him... make as much as you can while you can... He coulda provided some good depth in the secondary... even the deal doesn't sound bad, depending on the base salary... i'd be willing to be a lot of the incentives are of the NLTBE variety...

If we spent 10 mil on Gilly after giving away Judon that would have annoyed me. I suppose we should have made both happy.

Just realize its "up to" 10m... doesn't mean he's getting the full ten million...

And yeah, i'm bummed out about Judon... All too often he was really the only bright spot on this team...

Gilmore and the Vikings have agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $10 million with $7 million guaranteed

$7 million guaranteed, for a CB who will turn 34 in September.

That may make sense for a team with legitimate super bowl aspirations.

$7 million for a 34 year old CB also never made sense for a rebuilding team such as the Patriots to sign him.

And it also does not make sense for the Vikings - a team that will probably have a top ten pick in next year's draft.
They're delusional if they think they are going to go 13-4 again like they did two years ago.
They will be lucky to go 7-10 again with their combination of Sam Darnold, Nick Mullins, Matt Corral and Jaren Hall at QB.

thanks for the update on the guaranteed dollar amount... i was guessing about half that number, 3.5 to maybe 4 guaranteed... was more than a bit off... 7m is a lot of money...

as for the vikes, i think they know that their offense is going to take a hit this year sans Cousins... and when their starting cb went down, they make a bit of a desperation move by giving him as much as they did...

Isn't it all guaranteed when he's on the roster week 1 anyway?

Good - Minny loses one more QB and we can trade the “Zapster” for him!

Gilmore waited and waited for NE call. It didn't come.

If this were 2025 and we were a contender, we would have signed him.

He can join the (gasp) Sam Darnold lead Vikings…

There are players no longer with the team that I don’t like and enjoy their failure (c’mon…you feel the same …don’t deny it) and their are players that I’m indifferent to. Gilmore is none of those for me. I truly appreciate his contribution to the Patriots will enjoy hearing about his successes wherever he goes.

both “G” sounds cool though

34 is up there for a cb, maybe better to roll with the younger guys. Patrick peterson is just a few months older and Steeler fans were not happy with him last year. Reading that gilmore didn’t look so hot towards the end last year too. Give the kids more reps

He hurt his shoulder at the end of the season last year, played thru it... Had surgery this off season...

That is the down side of bringing in older vets... The risk of injury seems to grow exponentially

Wait, someone found Matt Corral?

More evidence that in Foxborough, the Tank is On…
