From PFT: Raiders in pursuit of McNabb

Good point on last year. Though another side to the argument is the 2007 draft, which was considered extremely weak and yet we still nabbed Meriweather at 24. It really all depends on a little luck for who falls where. I think the overall depth of a draft shows more in the 2nd and 3rd round than it does in the 1st (where there's almost always enough talent to have good players available) or the 4th on (which becomes more of a crap shoot the further you go).

fully agreed. Especially as with BBs track record I fully expect to get a solid contributor out of any first RD pick we take.

Broncos/Chargers/Chiefs *2 - 4 LOSSES/6
Colts - LOSS
Texans - LOSS
Rams
LOLphins - LOSS
Seahawks
Steelers - LOSS
Titans - LOSS
Jaguars - LOSS
Cardinals
49ers

Predictions are always tough but I count 10 probable losses even with McNabb, at least 7 of which are very likely. 9-7 seems to be the best case scenario, IMO.

Banking on losses against the Jaguars, Titans, LOLphins and Texans as of right now is a big reach, IMO. Not one of those teams is anything to put money down on.

it wouldn't surprise me if Crazy Al is trying to add on 4 or so wins just to get back at us for Moss again.

I imagine he has other reasons for wanting to win football games that are greater than that one.

we also got pro-bowlers (or pro-bowl caliber) players like Wilfork, Warren, Meriweather, and Mankins with our late 1st rounders.

Nitpick: Warren was early in the teens.

the Bills r Interested as well

check roto

PFT has a ridiculous rumor that the eagles are offering Samual and McNabb for nmandi asocantspellit.

mcnabb ain't going nowhere. why would he sign an extension with the raiders (only way trade happens) when he could wait another year and sign with any team he wants. if i were him, i would wait and reunite with brad childress in Minnesota which is super bowl ready team. he can go there, win a title and be a hero.

I'd love to see Asante get shipped to Oakland after wanting to "get paid" only to rot with the Raiders, LMAO.

No way that happens, there's just too many moving parts to a trade like that.

McNabb could easily lead that team to a 9-7 or even 10-6 record with that schedule. That team is a good quarterback away from competing for and/or winning the division. For the sake of our 2011 pick, I hope this doesn't happen.

Mcnabb would energize that franchise.. And that 1 pick in 11 would really be a low 20 pick if Mcnabb joins... The team was playing well in dec...

I agree that good QB play makes a big difference, but to play winning football, you need a good defense too. The Raiders simply do not have that.

W/ McNabb they are still a < .500 team 7-9, 6-10 etc...

they were 2-3 in DEC/JAN they had an upset win over Pit, but had blow out loss to Washington at home, beat a realing denver team and then lost to Cleveland and Baltimore.

I don't know which way is up on this board anymore?

If you recall smart guy, the team was playing better because fat albert was not playing, Gradkowski then got hurt, and he had to play again.. Then they sucked... But the defense was playing fine late..

I'm not being smart. That team has bigger problems then just their QB. Outside of Seymour their D-line sucks, their best and only real LB is still a RFA and for some reason they keep bringing up their best CB in trade talks.

Their RB's are average, they're WR corps is garbage and their O-line is nothing to write home about.

They have done nothing to improve only get worse by losing Ellis (maybe his injury is severe, I don't know) and allowing Morrison to be available.

Giving up 34 points to the Skins at home is nothing to be proud of.

Yet you think they could be picking in the low 20's?

McNabb will help but let's not get carried away.

And let's not over look the fact that McNabb has played in all 16 games just once in the past six years and that was playing behind a damn good line.

From T-Day on they allowed 24 points and about 360 yds a game. Their D wasn't playing that great.

They were playing better with Gradk, but they still stink.

Good catch. I forgot how high we traded up to grab him. I still feel good about our late 1st round track record though.

I don't think there's any doubt that OAK landing McNabb could move us out of the top 5-10 pick range to somewhere around the 14-17 range, but I agree with those who say that he isn't going to lead them to a double digit win total too.

OAK had/has plenty of issues still, and although I'm sure McNabb would improve them, I don't think they'd end up better than 8-8 in an absolute best case scenario. 7-9 or so is probably much more likely, IMO.

Bottom line is that we're all hoping that it doesn't happen, because we're bound to move down a good 8-9 picks if it does--that's likely fact, and not speculation.

Glad someone agrees. I saw a few Raiders games and I saw a team that would play tough and then get demorialized by Russell blowing it.

Mcnabb would make the whole team better by the team knowing they can win games.
---------------------
The O-line will be good after the draft, their 2 WRs were rookies who will improve, they have a great TE in Zach Miller, good RB tandem in Bush/McFadden, and a decent defense as a unit.

I think you make some very good points, no doubt. I think it would help the team in many ways too. I think it's even possible that they could head down the stretch after week 12 as a WC contender, in the same facet as BUF did a couple times in the last decade--only to finish 7-9 or so, as they did too.

Who knows? Everyone will have their own opinions of what a McNabb led OAK team could end up at the end of the season, but I think trying to speculate or guess is pointless. The fact is that it will definately change our draft range next year, and those 7, 8, or 9 places could be crucial. Let's just continue hoping that JaMarcus stays the starter
