Speaking of "phony arguments"---"Welker's diminishing YAC." he led the league in YAC. What a load of crap.

"
C'mon DB, you're nit picking here. There have been a number of Pats who became major contributors who have been brought in after Camp started. Right off the top of my head, Brian Waters, Rob Ninkovich, and the big NT in 2003, whose name escapes me."

Ted Washington maybe ?

I think that's total YAC. I was talking about YAC/catch. Pardon me if I was unclear.

Thanks, BT, It was killing me, because I knew it was Washington, but I couldn't come up with the first name. All I could think of "Gene", and I knew he was skinny WR.

Ted W cost us a 4th round pick for a 1 year rental. Key in bringing us our 3rd SB win.

Ask again later this evening when Denver announcing the signing of Welker.

OK, I'll bite, MG. What promises were broken last year? All I know is that the Pats promised to pay Welker $9.3MM. Welker got a fair paycheck given his production and the Pats got value from their investment What's the problem?

It's announced. You still haven't said what broken promises.. But then, you hardly ever actually answer questions asked of you.

Kraft personally promised that Welker's long-term contract would be taken care of before last year's season. Instead, the team chose to extend Hernandez and Gronkowski. The general feeling among many, many folks at the time was that the lack of any meaningful negotiations and the slapping of a franchise tag on Welker meant that he would be playing his last season. The feeling was that Belichick chose among his three assets. Obviously, we were all correct.

Don't folks even remember the beginning of the season when the controversy was whether Welker would be less a part of the offense? Some would say that sanity prevailed. NOT. Injury intervened.

The team through for more than 20 yards as few times as almost any team in the nil. One suspects that will now change. When we run a 2TE 2WR formation, I presume that we will have two TRUE outside wide receivers. The TE's are quite able to cover the slot. To put it another way, we have invested a lot in TE's to cover the slot. I would hope that we consider this issue when we consider backups to the TE's and when we consider our backup receivers.

Sorry, but Kraft never promised such a thing. I think that is a figment of your imagination. Wouldn't be the 1st time either.
