Just like Will Campbell has LG.
It’s a length issue.
Both are nearly identical in height. And although Lomu’s arms are a tad over an inch longer, his wingspan is a little over five inches longer, 82 3/4” v. 77 3/8”. That’s helpful in pass protection.
Don’t forget that Campbell’s wingspan ranks dead last for OTs since records were first kept in 2011.
Benny, spot on!.. for those Ridiculously critical of Campbell ask them how did the LT position look prior to drafting him...Woooooooooooooow, records were first kept in 2011? A whole 14 years of data? Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. Wowzers. I am struck speechless. Speechless, I tell you.
I mean, the sport's been played for over a hundred years, but 14 years of data. Just amazing.
Will Campbell is at 77,” that’s not tackle width. Sorry if that hurts feelings here.
You're not hurting any feelings at all. I'm pretty sure the Patriots coaching staff feels differently than some on patsfans.com wether it's optimal or not some conveniently waiting until a hurting Campbell had struggled into the playoffs to convince themselves he's not a future LT.. he's the starting LT.. now if he struggles all season long like patsfans.com experts believe than I'm sure Vrabel has a contingency plan .Will Campbell is at 77,” that’s not tackle width. Sorry if that hurts feelings here.
I already said it doesn’t preclude him from being able to play tackle at a decent level… like Joe Thuney. It just might not be optimal.
Look up the definition of “optimal.”
Believe it or not if Vrabel, Marrone and the rest believe Campbell’s future is eventually at guard, they’re not going to play with their player’s psyche and announce it to the world. You're not hurting any feelings at all. His wingspan measure is an outlier, but the question is whether that has anything to do with being an effective OT, especially given his other plus athleticism & size measures. I haven't seen or heard any evidence of that, just ipso facto conjecture. Will Campbell is at 77,” that’s not tackle width. Sorry if that hurts feelings here.

A taller NBA center of similar athletic equivalence is better than a much shorter one. A taller WR of similar athletic abilities is better than a shorter one with the same measurables if you’re looking for a field stretcher. We’ll see if his struggles were the result of injury or just the Pro game catching up to him. Can't think of any plays where he got beat and I thought "Geez that wouldn't have happened if his left-hand to right-hand length, with arms fully extended to the sides, were a few inches longer".
The coaches will inevitably do what’s best for the team. That said, whatever the coaches decide I'm fine with.
Would have figured you for a dog or two on the way home amirite?I use Morrissey Blvd almost exclusively to get where I need/want to go... In one direction, Castle Island; in the other, the Neponset Circle Bridge into Quincy...
AVT was just signed to a 3 year deal. He plays left G. Should Campbell play center instead? Lomu I'm sure he's up to the task at LT he doesn't need to know the play book. Campbell is the starting left tackle until he shows otherwise.Believe it or not if Vrabel, Marrone and the rest believe Campbell’s future is eventually at guard, they’re not going to play with their player’s psyche and announce it to the world.
In fact they’ll say they think Campbell can do anything he sets his mind to, that he can play tackle or guard and maybe center.
Talk is cheap, if you struggle with outside speed, time will reveal anll… and you’ll eventually slide inside to guard.
Over on another thread we’re discussing Onwenu’s future and how he only has this season left on his deal. We need a starting guard for next season one way or another.AVT was just signed to a 3 year deal. He plays left G. Should Campbell play center instead? Yes. I agree. Ownenu just restructure so that's likely due to a number of things. But your right we are going to need another G. Vrabel will draft one.Over on another thread we’re discussing Onwenu’s future and how he only has this season left on his deal. We need a starting guard for next season one way or another.

Campbell's wingspan is about 77.5". How does the above have relevance to that? It looks like you agree with State by that post?
The only wingspan listed on that graphic is Rashawn Slater at 80,” not amazing but still a few inches wider than Campbell.Campbell's wingspan is about 77.5". How does the above have relevance to that? It looks like you agree with State by that post?
That was regarding something Wozzy mentioned in a post about wingspan.. I'm not here to agree nor disagree with he or State's post simply put up the graphics showing who the OTs that are able to still be successful with a short wingspan or ect. Campbell is 22 years old his career is only beginning.. he will be fine and have learned alot from his rookie season.. the main thing is for him is to be healthy headed into the season.Campbell's wingspan is about 77.5". How does the above have relevance to that? It looks like you agree with State by that post?
I get everything you're saying Wozzy and it's logical. Just we have to always look at the actual things teams do as opposed as to what's said.. the team took Campbell who was the highest rated OL in last year's draft. Why? Because we needed an OT. We had been so devoid of OT play prior to drafting Campbell that it was the Inevitable that we took him. Now this offseason the team signed AVT at LG.. if the organization was really not convinced with Campbell he would have been moved to OG and Lomu would have been the LT. Again my post isn't gospel and some could get thier dreams to come true on Campbell not being the long term OT.. if that's so.. now you'll need a RT as well. The only wingspan listed on that graphic is Rashawn Slater at 80,” not amazing but still a few inches wider than Campbell.
The other guys don’t have wingspans because most publications didn’t publish them prior to a certain date. Some guys are broad across the torso, they’re wide dudes. Campbell, Thuney are both tall… they’re just narrow.
And I have have been consistent about Campbell prior to the draft, after the draft until now. I never said he couldn’t play tackle, I just asked aloud if it was optimal. He might be a decent tackle like Thuney was, but he might be an All Pro guard.
There’s nothing wrong with being a superior guard, it’s just that people here will whine about his draft position. I don’t frankly give a rats ass about draft position, I just want a large dominant offensive line.
And that's the if.. AVTs only issue has been health and availability.. Hopefully he can remain healthy and really be that all pro level player that he is capable of. Remain Ownenu played some at RT in the past. Although he's better suited at G.. he wasn't terrible at it.Or maybe they know they likely already have one…
Vera Tucker has to prove he can stay healthy, or maybe they’ll need two starting guards next offseason.
If you’re beaming down to a planet and there’s a Will and a Verdarian there, who is reliable and trustworthy, and who is the child with the powers of a god?Idiotic post, as usual. And Spencer Rattler is better than Drake Maye. And Verdarian Lowe is better than Will Campbell.....State's finest takes before he disappeared in total embarrassment last year.
The length of a fingernail doesn't make one **** of difference. Will Campbell is a 6'6 320 lb left tackle who is in the top 1% in athleticism of all tackles drafted since 1987, and he was playing better than any rookie tackle last season until his knee injury. I realize that you hate him but your stupid ****ing bias has gotten really really old.
