Basically, the Colts feel a need to pull out a grenade with their shaky little hands every time they play the Patriots.

And for extra piquancy, just minutes later Belichick & co. pulled the pin on a special teams "grenade" of their own -- well conceived, low risk, perfectly timed and impeccably executed.

SnapFU is worse. The butt fumble was an accident. Hard as it is to believe, this... was pre-planned!!!! LMAO!!!

Exactly.

In the context of Deflategate, what will be now part of the picture remembered by the nation (especially those not inclined to be everyday football watchers) is the VISUAL ineptitude and Barney Fife-ness of the main accuser.

Don't forget, longterm, visuals are everything. And The VISUAL of the Colts doing something so outrageously stupid trying to outfox Belichick, is something that adds to the frame of the whole story.

And Belichick and the Patriots are simply Cool Hand Luke , keep their heads, assess the situation, study up on physics, hold Mona Lisa Vito press conferences, don't lose focus and STILL WIN a SB over the Legion of Boom......or stay in their lanes, keep their heads, don't panic and easily tackle the confused Colt Anderson to take over 1st down at the Indianapolis 23 yard line to eventually score the winning points.

.

Agree with this completely. What's so perfect about Snapfu is the Colts and their fans so wanted Brady out for the four games, at which they failed, and then so wanted to beat Brady to get revenge, and instead, the final image they achieved was looking like total idiots on national TV, to the point of having their moronic play named to it can be preserved and easily referred to anytime the media wants to talk about bloopers. Glorious.

Agree -- it's the perfect contrast to Do Your Job!

Just the same, your "context" for Snapfu at this moment is pure conjecture. The Buttfumble, on the other hand, was as pure a work of comedic art-in-motion as we'll see in this lifetime. IMO, its iconic status in Patriots lore remains unchallenged.

It was the high point of the 53 seconds that gave new meaning to the term a New York minute.

Pass to Vereen for a long TD
Buttfumble
KO fumble right to JE for a TD

That's good Tune. The PuntBungle. Like it a lot.

Yes, that is a good one. I was considering DuncePunt from the Fitzy thread, but PuntBungle might be better

I like Puntbungle too...it's perfect.

Puntbungle has my vote too (as does your Ron Borges signature quote!)

But I appear alone in Patriots nation in suggesting that Pagano was right in his playcall - but bears responsibility for the poor coaching that lead to the poor execution.

The Colts - near as I can figure - weren't running a fake punt per se. They were simply lined up oddly (illegally as it turned out - more bad coaching) and were not supposed to do ANYTHING aside from attempt to draw the Patriots offsides for the 1st down.

If the players execute as Pagano wanted, it was EXTREMELY low risk and high reward. Frankly Belichick might attempt to do the same thing, accepting a 5 yard penalty on the punt for delay of game for the chance at a 1st down.

NOW - was it foolish for Pagano to think he was going to catch the Patriots unprepared? Probably. But again, what did he have to lose?

Of course, bad coaching lead to the ball being snapped and the rest is history. But it was the right call executed poorly.

Thanks! That was borne out of the 2010 Draft when everyone was caterwauling about picking McCourty and Gronkowski as the first two picks.

I'll buy that an attempt to draw the Pats offsides was a good call, but that particular play call is awful simply because it's an illegal formation. I'm not sure if there would have been a penalty had the ball not been snapped, but then again, the Pats might have been aware that you can't snap from an illegal formation without a penalty, negating any advantage.

Maybe Pagano felt that the Patriots rushers had to call "One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi....." before rushing in?

This was my thought, too. U think calling it "The Three Mississippi Play" has a nice ring to it.

Chuck Pagano and the not ready for prime time players in .....Snapfu.

If it was an illegal formation I'm willing to assume that Pagano's play did not call for an illegal formation

It's bad execution - and while the players have to own that, Pagano is 100% correct - when that happens you have to accept that it was bad coaching - that you didn't properly instruct, or comprehend that the players didn't "get it" and thus they executed it completely wrong - outsmarting themselves rather than the Patriots

It was still hilarious - and appropriate Karma for the Colts, not to have Brady humiliate them - but to do so to themselves

As it stands, and as I said at the beginning of FrameGate - Brady will have a job as starting QB for far longer than Pagano and Harbaugh will have their current head coaching jobs

That was such an epic fail of execution by the players though, one can't help but wonder if it were intentional

If a team meeting revealed that the majority of Colts players no longer had confidence in their coach, I can't think of a more sure fire way of getting him fired than to execute that play, that badly

Conspiracy theory? Maybe. But we all know it wouldn't be the first time the Colts purposefully threw games to achieve a longer term goal *cough*Suck for Luck* cough*

So, if the intent was to draw pats off by lining the nine guys up intentionally two yards back; how exactly were enough colts going to move forward (thru the pats players) to the LOS if the pats had actually done what the dolts wanted them to?

If they practiced this for a year, they must have thought about that somehow/time???

University of Maine football team trolls the Colts.
