I will literally lose my lose my head if Mac doesn't start Week 1.

The might as well dig your grave now. It's not happening. Cam is the starter. Sorry you've closed the book on not only Cam but thinking you know more than Belichick. (and I like Mac).

RE: Nordin.

The XP from the 15 yard line is new for him. Yes, it's just a chip shot FG, but it's still different than what he did in College. I don't expect it to be an issue as things go along. Especially since he's completely changed how he goes about FGs now. This was something he mentioned in interviews. That in college, he didn't pace off, EXACTLY, how he lined up for kicks. The Patriots taught him how to pace off EXACTLY (down to the inch) and it's a new habit for him. The difference in his accuracy is there, though and I expect that, along with Bailey, he'll become a new weapon for the Pats.

Anyone have a video of the Wilkerson Endzone play? When I watched it, it sure looked like the DB slapped Wilkerson's right arm multiple times making it nigh impossible to make that catch.
Agree 100%, SHOULDA been pass interference. Missed call.

I guess another way of framing the question would be, "Is Justin Herbert a better quarterback, at this moment, having played as a rookie last year, or would he be better, right now, if he had held a clipboard all of the 2020 season?"
He had a great season, so I would say he's in a better position today for sure because he played.

We will have to agree to disagree.
He could have just placed the ball a few yds further. If the WR does slow which i don't think he does surely the ball should be slightly ahead. I don't think velocity is the issue. He can make that pass with his arm strength

I haven't needed to. I leave the making outlandish and unsubstantiated remarks to people like you who prove time and again that you know next to nothing about the game and just post to hear yourself.
Thanks sunshine.

He needs more velocity. One of the plays that will be remembered more as a drop that people will give him pass on is the potential touchdown. Yes he was accurate but the ball floated there and the receiver had to let up to not overrun the spot which allowed the defensive back to play tighter coverage. Should have been a catch but the lack of speed on the ball made it harder for the receiver who needed to both adjust and deal with a defender who shouldn't have been playing as tight.

That said he's got accuracy and makes good reads which are much harder to improve on in a QB. A throwing coach should help speed him up.
The receiver didn't slow down at all, he dropped it right in the basket only where the receiver could get it. It was a perfect throw.

Just to taper the enthusiasm on Rhamondre Stevenson. The 91 yard run, while exciting, was done against Washington's 3rd stringers. That being said, it does show promise. Hopefully he'll get a chance against a top Defensive unit with the Pats Top O-line so we can get a fairer evaluation of him ..

Thanks sunshine

Considering that just about every comment of yours in this thread was taken to task by someone, You really should take a step back and realize that your current "abilities" are worse than your claims about the Pats Receivers. Maybe less commenting and more learning on your part would be in order.. Unless you have some dire need for attention..

Personally, I think that 40-yard lob pass is one of the worst ways to judge Mac’s arm strength. Any college QB can lob a rainbow pass down the sideline like that. It was a nice throw, but those passes are often more about the receiver, the coverage, including incidental contact, and even the luck involved in that .01 window when things like the wind come into play. Bottom line is: it just isn’t the type of pass/result that’s often replicated exactly as before because of the randomness. I think the longer the ball is in the air, the less it has to do with the quarterback and the more it has to do with luck and external factors.

I believe Brady led the league on deep passes last year, which makes sense because it’s about the WRs more than anything…but he was still in the 40% range. That’s the thing…these are all kind of random lobs.

The first throw to Jakobi, which was a catch though ruled incomplete, was not a great pass and that’s exactly the type of arm strength that’s critical…the ball didn’t carry quite far enough. But it was still close enough for him to make a great catch and that may have more to do with mechanics/timing, etc.

This is the type of pass where arm strength matters. If you don’t have it, this is probably an INT.

That’s exactly something a Dunning Kruger idiot would say when he hears ideas that challenge his simple, self-serving opinion.

He still had to run away from guys running full speed chasing him. Even if you take away the 91 yarder, he was still 9 for 36, still averaged 4 yards a carry.

And Fumagalli, Berry and Perkins (each 13) played more than anyone else except D. Virgin (20) and M. Jackson (17).
Out of those 5, only Perkins is most likely to be on the roster.. Jackson has an outside shot, but he's likely to be #52/#53. Berry is likely going to the PS again. He'll probably be a game day call-up.. The others may or may not make the PS.

Bravo on using the Dunning Kruger effect on these boards. Most people have no idea what that is, hence the Dunning Kru….you get where I’m going.

I was literally just having fun with using the word literally. I obviously will not literally lose my head if Cam starts. In fact, I am not really literally too emotionally invested in it. If Cam gets his chance this year and sucks, he will have literally no more excuses. I hope he succeeds.

Sorry you seem to have literally had your arse hole puckered by my original post. Please gargle after you get off your knees in front of Cam. (And I like Cam).

Some O-line numbers: When I look at Cunningham below and his one qb pressure allowed, it was a horrible effort that could have gotten Mac seriously injured.

PASS PROTECTION

New England’s quarterbacks were under pressure on ten of their 32 drop-backs on Thursday night, or 31.3 percent, which is an impressive number for the 11 offensive linemen who played.

Starting left tackle Isaiah Wynn had a rough rep early on against star pass-rusher Chase Young, but Young’s quarterback hit on Newton was the lone pressure Wynn allowed.

Outside of Young’s spectacular rush, the other four Pats’ starting offensive line members didn’t allow a single quarterback hit, and only Jones was sacked once in the game overall.

Starting center James Ferentz is having a breakout summer of sorts, allowing only one hurry in 29 pass-blocking snaps with the highest run-blocking grade of all 11 offensive linemen (84.2).

Two other notes in the trenches are that 2019 third-round pick Yodny Cajuste’s return to a game field showed plenty of rust, while sixth-round pick William Sherman only played five snaps.

OH no. You'd better not let Captain see that.. His head will explode. I mean.. Ferentz is only on the team because of who his daddy is, dontcha know.. *snicker*
