Yeah…I remember you were writing about this well before the draft and going through Mac’s strengths and flaws.

It’s difficult to separate an agenda at this point. Yes, lots and lots of fans suddenly are experts, and wouldn’t you know it, everything points to sure-fire success and a great pick by their favorite team.
It makes for a tough convo and discourse.

Mac has plenty going for him on & off the field he doesn't need people touting him and making **** up. There's no fun in that and you'll never learn anything.

Part of the fun in this is we get to watch a baby grow, mature, make mistakes & improve. The process is some of the best parts of bird although I'm a results kind of idiot.

Watching young players get better, hit their ceiling or fall to their floor is fun & how you learn.
Yes, this.

I think that Brady might have been a major league catcher is often overlooked. That lower body strength, balance, leverage is key.

Brady, an all-time great QB, was a blue chip baseball prospect, but not as a pitcher.

Elway, 2nd round pick by the Yankees in 1981. Pitcher? Nope…outfielder.

Kyler Murray, 9th overall by the A’s. Shortstop/second base.
I've always been a "footwork" guy but recently started messing around with boxing bc of opportunity (work with someone who won multiple golden golves, 15 + years experience) I believe in it that much more. It's everything.

I was lucky enough to stand behind a real college OL on the field. Walked 3, 5, 7 steps back. Immediately started peeing myself thinking about and awkwardly trying to move to see the field. I'm 6'3+ barefoot and had a tremendous time trying to look through lanes. The footwork/muscle memory, quick thinking & athleticism not to mention confidence you have to have is insane. And this was with them not moving, no rush, noise ... See ya later, only a select few are qualified to even attempt that **** at the highest level.

I started to think about this route or pass and immediately thought ... Oh well I'm giving up my body to attempt that. Even a simple screen pass.

Brady is a master at weight transfer. You'll see QB's lift their back foot off the ground a ton. It's to get extra power behind your pass but you give up a little precision if you're not careful. Brady does an unbelievable job at keeping his planted. Pivoting that back foot to be as accurate as possible. He'll occasionally lift it up but in terms of footwork it really separates him from others. I kind of liken it to a needle on a record player. No scratches or ill-movements and it's the best sound you'll ever hear.

He's a maniac at keeping his front shoulder tight while opening up his hips to. Everything his does is so tight, fine-tuned. Again muscle memory from tens of thousands of movement & practice.

I brought it up it up pre-draft but Mac could definitely improve in a few areas that would certainly help to add more zip. I expect to see a noticeable change in a year or two once he's been training more year round and working on his mechanics with the best of the best.

Great sign given Mayo is on the staff. Have a good feeling about Perkins. If Winovich has any understanding of math he better step it up fast as it looks like the personnel roles are getting taken up without him (hello Uche).

.

Wasn't a "punch" though. If you look the play Young's hand is open wide trying to get ahold of Wynn to rip him forward with his inside hand. He doesn't get a great piece of Wyyn but enough. Outside clears hands before dipping out.

Here's the video ... Snatch with inside, clears hands with outside before dipping out. .

Sacks like that are gonna happen sometimes with smaller, shorter-armed LTs like Wynn.

If he wants to be considered a worthy recipient of #51, then Perkins needs to do a better job of recognizing his edge responsibilities... And please don't have him drop into coverage for awhile Bill...

Not surprised. Trey came from a college offense that ran the freaking ball 2/3rds of the time and he only averaged 160 yards per game passing in college. Drafting Trey is going to cost Shanahan and Lynch their jobs no matter how much BaconGrundleCandy claimed Trey was the best QB and how much he said Mac and Barmore sucked.

.

lol like a scorned exgf bc I pointed how bad you are at this months ... follow me around like a weirdo getting mad online and making stuff up. Sounds like you thought Barmore sucked until I broke him down as a prospect for you. You know, since you deferred to me. You literally fell in love with him and are high on him bc of what I told you after your post here ...

Barmore was my IDL2, with a 2nd round grade. Same round we took him in. He came out very early for a Bama player and is raw as hell. Sorry if being objective bothers you but that hardly means I think a prospect is bad.

Same for Mac. I never said he sucked ... Day after the draft ...
  • As I've said before I expect Jones to fit right in here. He's a very likeable guy that seemingly can read a room. He played his part at Bama to a T and is doing the same in NE. He didn't go in swinging his Mac Johnson everywhere in Tuscaloosa. He sat, absorbed and made the most of his opportunity, behind the scenes and on the field. Present day - he's already saying the right things about the coaches and Cam. He'll play that up until practice and that's when he'll make his move. Newton simply isn't a "practice" guy. That's never where he'll look his best. That's where Mac will shine though, in the details. In between plays, communicating to his side, talking **** to the other side. Not taking the bait set out for him. I expect a tight race at first bc Newton isn't going to want to lose to Jones and knows this might be he's last shot or next to last. Jones will pull away though imo. Whether that's enough for Bill is a different story. A lot is and was made about "upside" as is just about every draft cycle. Mac's upside is pretty clear imo. Graduate from the pre/post snap school, work on his body and work on his mechanics to unlock that arm. A)Mental processing, reading coverage/finding & adjusting to disguise ... He's good but not elite or close to his final form there. Remember he's in the NFL now so everything is "among his peers" from now on. For him to be a legit top 10-12 QB we're going to need him to hit another level in that department. The things he's good at, he needs to become great at for him to hit that individual peak. He needs to master that part of the game, not just be good or above average in the NFL among his peers. That only comes from trial & error, studying & experience. Good news is Mac has already shown he can run that race, we just need to get him a lil faster so to speak and keep working. And some luck. B)Body transformation. I love the baby gut & chicken legs but it's the NFL & the margin for error is ridiculously small. Improving his flexibility, strength and other things (could be a nice mental escape) can only help him reach that peak. I expect Mac to look different this summer and I have no doubt he'll have a new physique next year. That's a promise. C)Mechanics, Jones doesn't have the greatest arm but if you watch him close, his launch point/the follow through of his delivery tends to lose steam at times, a little loose. A tweak in his delivery might do wonders. Anyone who really watched him saw the balls die in the air at times. Esp outside the #'s - corner-deep out. Stuff that requires quick gas. I think his base and feet are fine when he's clean but his delivery could be a little tighter, more compact overall imo. I'm not an expert but I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear something like this in the future. There are plenty of stories about him being a film nut. Nagy and Saban have told several stories about catching him watching film after hours while the janitors are sweeping and the place is empty. So it's obviously there. Rewatching him again, his anticipation always stands out. I have to say that's easily his best trait. He really does have + anticipation and good accuracy. Feet could be quicker, they get sloppy under pressure but he moves very well in the pocket. Another thing that really stood out was his ability to adjust to the game plan and subtle changes. Bama gets credited with running a "pro scheme" for some reason but that's just stuff people hear and repeat. Maybe a simplified one but that's another subject. Anyway the real good stuff is what he's able to do after halftime, when Sark gets a look at the defense & decides to attack. When there's a weakness to be exploited he's on it and able. So while Bama is essentially a simplified RPO offense, Jones was a hitman at times when ask to do something different, adjust on the fly and play with some refinement. He handled everything Sark threw at him. Shined on the big stage. No doubt Bill will build that chip on his shoulder up even more. I'm optimistic and excited to see what Mac can do with Bill and Josh. Hoping we keep the RPO, it's a nice safety blanket for him. This a is great place for him. If you're a Pats fan you should be very happy. It doesn't matter who you liked or you're binky was. Mac is a Pat, cheap and more than capable. Most of his upside is in the mental part of the game but I believe his arm/arm talent could absolutely improve with a tweak to mechanics.

I'm also on record, long before the draft. Talking about how he has some of the best anticipation & mental processing in the class. Despite the lack of velocity his arm is a asset bc his touch - ability to layer passes and placement - ability to put the ball in the optimum spot for his target.

Also as far as being inline with the Pats draft processes - I hit on 7 picks in 2020 and 3 this year. I took Barmore & Perkins off my list two weeks before the draft which would have been 5 and asked if Barmore was the missing piece for us on our DL before the draft. If theres anyone better at identifying and calling pats picks, please let us all know.

Either way it would be great if you could stop lying and making stuff up.

That's awesome. Yeah I know you did a 180 once the Pats drafted Mac and Barmore. It's true I threw you a sympathy question in the past before I realized you were a snowflake psycho. When I have time if I continue to be amused , will be fun to show all the times you put your foot in your mouth. But wouldn't be surprised to see you scrub things as you seem super obsessed with your fake draftnik image here. Again, condolences the Patriots did the exact opposite you advocated for in the draft. Keep it up, still a lot to learn, you'll get there. Your tears will dry in time

Brady got way better as a player compared to what he was in 2000 and 2001. His throwing velocity improved working multiple years with Tom House the mechanics coach. QBs have a lot of improvement needed in order to be upper echelon NFL players. In 2001 Tom was a 160-yard-per-game passer.
The game was different back then but even Brady was averaging 200 yards per game he started in 2001.

Weird how you “vividly recall” something that literally never happened. So in addition to knowing almost nothing about football, you’re a fabulist, too!

You did.

It was funny, but believable too. Hold your 3 chins up high. You deserve credit. Much thought and debate goes into when the McRib should reappear.

It's mostly just a way for people to try constructing a preemptive defense of their take. It avoids the whole "HATER!"/"RACIST!" angle which might otherwise be taken by Cam defenders. In reality, there's probably not one person in a thousand who actually gives a rat's ass about Cam as a person, or has thought enough about the subject to have a real opinion about Cam as a person one way or another.

I will say, a lot of hesitance with Cam was supplemented not only with his play (which is totally legit) but also commentary on being "too much", a "diva", poking at his appearance, and stuff like that. When it's the latter, that comes with a bit of a racist tone when you don't hold other players to the same standard. Now I'm not saying YOU personally said anything similar, but I do think that was a trend in commentary.

However, to conflate a criticism of his performance as racism is dumb. And actually, is being lowkey racist and infantalizing, as if we have to tiptoe around these things because they're not white. If we're talking football, then we're talking performance. If we're talking performance, then it's perfectly okay to say "Cam isn't good anymore."

and you didnt have 20 guys with 4000 yards and 40 td's every year. Brady lead the league in Td's with 28 in 2002.
