With Mac in there, the offense looks like a Patriots’ offense. With Cam it feels like offense by accident - “oops, we scored”. The 8/9 drive to start the 2nd half was a test, and I think Jones met the challenge. He probably does not start week 1, but I also don’t think NE is drafting another first-round QB for quite a few years.

Your post is an excellent example of how stats without context can be very deceiving. So thanks for bringing that to the table.
No-offseason, new, advanced system, bare TE, WR room ..

Cam did only throw for 8 TD last season, but exactly, stats without context .. you want to lay waste to Cam because of 8 TD last season, look at the context .. the offense outside of QB was trash

Mac was affected by multiple drops, including one that would have been a downfield TD pass, but was a drop of a perfect throw.

If you want to cry about Cam's garbage season last year, go start a new Cam thread.

The goal line defense was really underwhelming.
Folded immediately. This was a concern I raised many months ago.

Godchaux isn't the answer. The team has a bunch of DE/DT types but no bonafide fat guy immovable nose tackle. Also Bentley needs to go except he got lucky that McMillan is hurt.

Will be a long season again if they can't stop 3rd and short and goal line runs.

Mac only had 38 more passing yards than Cam but had 9 more completions .. that is not good

I'm totally fine with a dink and dunk offense, the team won 3+ rings this way, plus it eats up clock and gets a lot of first downs and ball control. Having said all that, if you can sit your rookie QB for a full year to learn and grow, that is ideal.

The kid has been here for 15 weeks...15 weeks and if you couldn't see the difference then do less posting and more football learning. 15 weeks...in the NFL...Cam has how many years in the NFL?

I am not a Cam hater he was fun to watch. But he is no longer an NFL starter. And the rook just made it obvious.

How old are you? Marino? Rothlesburger? Wilson? Just last season... the kid I hoped would slide far enough Herbert....I could keep going, but it's not worth it.

You need some help QB AA or something. Cam is done. He is not good anymore. Mac is the future and that kid could not have walked into a better situation and he needs to start...now. QB2 reps for Cam moving forward. I will be shocked if that doesn't happen by week 3. Keep the kid mentally in the 2 seat until then. After that Bill, do what you know is there now and start getting the kid all the reps you can for week 1.

Its night and day when each QB is in there and it's exactly how it's been the entire camp. Its over!
Being a stud NFL QB does not have to be sexy. Making the right decisions and making them on time can make you millions in this game.

This kicker Nordin is presenting an interesting situation. Folk was really solid already within 42 yards and the Pats have arguably the best special teams unit in the entire league already. So this unit is a strength. But Nordin is doing everything you would want to see from a young player trying to take over a spot. It's hard to know how clutch someone is though until you're in it and down by 2.

Based on what I saw Mac has the better upside going forward. He was more poised and decisive. I know it's a small sample size. We will have to see......especially in clutch moments. Does he have the "it" factor? Time will tell. As an aside I think Meyers has the "it" factor.

Yes he did. You are no longer worth talking to. You sir are an arrogant moron who knows not what he thinks he knows and even less than what he sees.
2nd year - 1984 season

"there's no stashing QB" - yeah because he'll be our starting kicker.

Here's every single Mac play. Insert all the caveats about it being early and rookies have a lot to learn. But it's a great sign that he's so decisive post-snap, throws it out quick, and seems to have command of the playbook and presnap adjustments. Seems to also be in sync with Wilkerson which is a good sign for Wilkerson. After Bourne seems like Wilkerson, Gunner, Nixon are all in the mix. See ya NKeal.

Wonder if Bill let’s Mac start next week to switch it up see how he does.

At this point, Mac seems more likely than not to be able to start successfully in this league. The next game will be a better test, as that is the dress rehearsal game where schemes really come out.

The Pats had 2nd string and 3rd string in at the goal line against Washington's FIRST string O.It's the FIRST preseason game for krissakes Your perception and evaluation is tragically flawed...but continue to rip and tear away like a rabid squirrel and sound the "SKY IS FALLING!!" alarm, ChickKickLIttleFlutie.
