Fairley at DE if he drops?

I wouldn't trade up to 16 for him. In fact, if he fell to 17, I'd rather trade the pick to a team that wants him rather than draft him.

Bump........100% agree

No! No! No! He is a pure 4-3 under tackle and does not possess the skill set to read and react from one of our DE positions.

Just say no!!!!!!!

I agree with these statements on Fairley. While he may be a good fit for a 4-3 team where he can rush the passer just about every down, I do not personally feel as though he could/would be happy with the duties of shedding blocks and double teams to free up space in our system.

I completely agree, I wouldn't touch this guy in the first 3 rounds. He is a pure gap shooter and penetrator. We don't know if he can play the run becuase he never really bothered to at Auburn. He takes way too many plays off and hasn't shown me anything other than he can rush the passer. He would be a beast as a situational pass rusher, but I wouldn't draft one until round 4. Add in the character concerns and the fact that this guy will lose most of his signing bonus on fines for dirty hits, and thats a guy that I would stay away from. And just because we played in a 40 front most of the time last year it doesn't mean the requirements of our DL changes. They still need to control gaps and stop the run, and that just not Fairley's game. Its easy to fall in love with his highlight real, I certainly did, but when you look deeper he just isn't a guy to take a chance on. I can see him falling, and wouldn't be suprised to see him fall into the 20's. Like Ochmed said just say NO.

I'd rather have Dareus, but I'd also take Fairley in a heartbeat. The kid is a beast. On top of that, we're in subpackages most of the time anyway. His pass rushing and run stuffing presence will be well used on this team. If we can't get Dareus (we probably won't), I'd sincerely hope he drops.
